ATLANTA, GEORGIA: Joe Exotic who is popularly nicknamed 'The Tiger King' will soon be single as his divorce from Dillon Passage is close to being finalized. The 59-year-old reality star was jailed in 2019 for a string of offenses including animal abuse charges and a murder-for-hire plot, as shown in the hit Netflix series 'Tiger King.' Joe Exotic was married to 25-year-old Dillon since December 2017.

According to TMZ, the former couple is just waiting on a judge to sign off and make things official. Joe's lawyer, Autumn Blackledge told the outlet that the divorce documents between Joe and Dillon are finalized and they just need a judge's signature to officially close things up. Neither Joe nor Dillon is allowed to bad-mouth the other according to the documents and they have also waived the right to any alimony. Dillon also has to give up "any right to distribute, profit from, sell, transfer or use" any of the likenesses of Joe Exotic from Tiger King and 'Joe Exotic For President.'

Joe will be once again known as Joseph Maldonado as he is dropping Dillon's last name, which he had taken when they got married. He filed for divorce earlier this year, saying the marriage was irretrievably broken. "Dillon, please just sign it and go away," Joe tweeted shortly after filing. Dillon's lawyer Parastoo Majd told that Dillion is very happy to close this chapter of his life, move on and leave Tiger King behind.

According to The Mirror, last year, Dillon alarmed fans when he compared himself to a caged animal while married to Joe. While addressing his followers on Instagram he said, “Joe was good to me but there was a lot of negativity as well. While we were at the zoo, everything was good but there were little things that were picking at me. I wasn’t allowed to have friends at the zoo. All of the employees at the zoo, Joe didn’t want me talking to them. I wasn’t exactly sure why.”

He continued, “Joe, in a relationship, likes to be in control. If he doesn’t have that control then he lashes out. I know a lot of people are like that, he’s not singled out in this. When you’re in a marriage there should be compromise in a lot of things.”
