SOTU: Biden mistakes Ukrainian for Iranian, and Kamala Harris's reaction is PRICELESS

At his State of the Union speech, President Biden mistakenly mixed Iran and Ukraine, as Harris quickly reacted behind him

It's been a few weeks, but President Joe Biden has once again made a meme-worthy gaffe, this time at his State of the Union Speech. Addressing members of Congress on March 1, 2022, the President accidentally said, "Iranian people" instead of "Ukrainian people", which might have gone unnoticed had it not been for Vice President Kamala Harris. The VP's reaction was quickly captured and went viral on social media, leading to widespread trolling of Biden, again.

The President has made quite a habit for embarrassing gaffes, especially at key speeches much to the fury of the Republican party. Perhaps his most humiliating (or funniest) occurred in September 2021, when he forgot the name of the Australian Prime Minister and referred to him as "that fella down under". On more than one occasion, he has also accidentally referred to Harris as 'President'.

The repeated gaffes have led many Republicans to pressure Biden into taking a cognitive exam, led by Donald Trump's former doctor Ronny Jackson. Since the latest call in early February 2022, Biden has remained relatively gaffe-free, until his State of the Union speech. 

Biden confuses Ukraine with Iran

Perhaps the most important speech a President makes, the State of the Union is widely seen as a test of a President's success. Judging by what happened on March 1, it was divisive at best for Joe Biden. Not only was he heckled by Rep. Lauren Boebart, but he found himself committing a grave gaffe. "Putin may circle Kyiv with tanks, but he'll never gain the hearts and souls of the Iranian people," Biden said while speaking about the invasion of Ukraine. 

The President then pauses as the room breaks into applause, but in the background Vice President Harris appears to have taken stock of the gaffe. She can be seen mouthing something, which appears to be "Ukraine" very briefly, before returning to her stoic pose listening to Biden. It was indeed a very much blink-and-miss moment and might have gone unnoticed too had it not been for social media.

"LMFAO Kamala appears to mouth “Ukrainian” when Joe Biden said Iranian," tweeted Greg Price along with the specific clip from the speech. It quickly went viral, and the net piled on the memes and jokes in a very short time. 

'I’m pretty sure she mumbled wtf'

"Joe Biden: Iranian, Ukrainian and uranium, ain’t no difference it’s all the same shit," one user jokingly said. Another tweeted, "Biden doesn’t even know who Russia is invading. “Iranian”?? Kamala even looked Embarrassed and mouthed “Ukrainian…”." One commented, "Kamala silently wording "ukrainian", wondering why this big dope is the president and not her. Meanwhile Iranian people are wondering why is Putin after them now." A fourth person commented, "Kamala's face as he is saying that is the cherry on top."

"Kind of looked like she said, “You idiot.” What a 🤡 show," one person commented. Another said, "Sighs of relief in Tehran." A third joked, "I’m pretty sure she mumbled wtf." Rep. Matt Gaetz tweeted, "BREAKING: Biden announces unconventional plan to win the hearts and souls of Iranian people in Kyiv… Not from @TheBabylonBee."
