LONDON, ENGLAND: Joe Alwyn, 32, is not idle after his breakup with pop sensation Taylor Swift. The actor has landed his first acting gig following his split from 'Lover' singer Taylor Swift. The production company has confirmed that Joe Alwyn has joined the cast of Brady Corbet's 'The Brutalist', which also stars Guy Pearce and Felicity Jones.

Prior to landing the role, Alwyn was last seen in Lena Dunham’s Amazon Prime Video film ‘Catherine Called Birdy’ and the adaptation of Sally Rooney’s hit novel ‘Conversations With Friends’ on Hulu. According to the IMDb, the movie’s synopsis reads, ”When visionary architect Laszlo Toth and his wife Erzsebet flee post-war Europe in 1947 to rebuild their legacy and witness the birth of modern America, their lives are changed forever by a mysterious and wealthy client.”

While nothing much is known about Alwyn’s character in the movie, the film is all set to achieve “both monumental heights and devastating lows” for the viewers in the theaters, reports Billboard. The film will also feature the Oscar winning actor Adrien Brody who will be playing Laszlo Toth, Oscar nominated actress Felicity Jones playing Toth’s wife Erzsebet, Emmy winner Guy Pearce playing the role of a wealthy client. 

The news of Alwyn’s new role also came in the heels of the news that the glamorous duo broke up following a six years relationship due to the "differences in their personalities” and Alwyn’s reported struggle with “Taylor's level of fame and the attention from the public.”

Why did Joe Alwyn and Taylor Swift break up?

A source close to the pair reportedly told People, "Joe has struggled with Taylor's level of fame and the attention from the public," before elaborating, "The differences in their personalities have also become harder to ignore after years together. They've grown apart."

The same source further added, "They've had rough patches before and always worked things out, so friends thought they would take some time apart but eventually come back together. But ultimately, they weren't the right fit for one another."

Even though the couple were "talking about marriage as recently as a few months ago,” the insider added, "Taylor didn't see them working out in the long run.” The break-up happened “recently” and was not “dramatic” reported the source before adding, "They are friendly. She doesn't have anything bad to say about Joe," and "They just grew apart. Taylor is staying very focused on her tour right now."

Taylor Swift, meanwhile, is in her record breaking 'The Eras Tour' where her next stop being ampa, Fla.’s Raymond James Stadium.

Joe Alwyn acting career

Joe Alwyn made his debut in Ang Lee's 2016 war drama, ‘Billy Lynn's Long Halftime Walk,’ where he played the titular character. Since then he has been acting in supporting roles in films such as ‘The Favourite’ (2018), ‘Boy Erased’ (2018), ‘Mary Queen of Scots’ (2018), and ‘Harriet’ (2019). 

In 2022, he starred in Hulu drama ‘Conversations with Friends,’ the romantic thriller film ‘Stars at Noon’ and period film ‘Catherine Called Birdy.’

Alwyn has also collaborated with Swift and has been attributed as the co-lyricist of several of the popstar’s songs including, 'Exile,' 'Betty,' 'Champagne Problems,' 'Coney Island' and 'Sweet Nothing' etc. For his contribution in Swift’s eighth studio album, ‘Folklore,' Alwyn was co-awarded a Grammy Prize in 2021. 

He has also received the Trophwe Chopard, a Critics' Choice Movie Award, and a Satellite Award.
