In one, Ivy was seen balancing herself on the edge of two chairs in the living room before pushing them together and landing with a bounce on a nearby couch while grinning and giggling. In the Instagram video, Ivy can be seen moving two living room chairs together. The little girl, who was wearing no shoes, then slowly raised herself up onto the chair handles. She then softly snuck up to the edge. Ivy took a deep breath and then leaped into the air, her blue dress and matching headband flowing in the breeze. She laughed and smiled as she bounced to a stop on an adjacent couch. Duggar captioned the video, "I thought she was making a ‘stage’ for her song performance. But this was merely a launching pad to bigger and better things."Her mother added, "She’s a never ending adventure."

The Internet is divided over Ivy's risky stunt. One set of followers was applauding Ivy and her mom for letting the kid be one and commented, "Good on you for letting your kids be kids!" While a second fan commented, "Good for you letting her do tricky things. So many parents would stop this, but it is NECESSARY for a child's development." She received backlash for allowing the 1-year-old to suck on a lollipop that had been stuck to the back of her frock for a full thirty minutes.
The criticism started after Duggar posted a video of the infant scouring their living space for lollipops. Fern was relieved to receive the lollipop back when Duggar showed her where it was, but her mother received criticism for allowing Fern to consume it. One critic wrote, "This seems somewhat... unhygienic?" in a since-deleted comment.
