LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jeremy Renner is looking good on his road to recovery after a near-fatal snow plow accident. The 52-year-old action hero was spotted heading into 'Jimmy Kimmel Live' studio in California on Monday, April 10, to make his first appearance on the late-night show ever since he almost died in the New Year's Day accident that left him with 30 broken bones.

It's worth noting that Renner has been rather candid about his recovery, which could take years. The January 1 accident left him in "critical condition" at first before he underwent several surgical procedures. The actor was reportedly trying to protect his nephew from harm at the time of the incident, leading talk show host Kimmel to brand him the "toughest Avenger."

Renner visited Six Flags Magic Mountain in Valencia, California with his family over the weekend, before posting photos with his relatives at the well-known amusement park. "Good Friday, made magic on the mountain with some of my amazing family! @sixflagsmagicmountain #thankyou," he captioned a picture on Instagram. The actor, who was seen with his 10-year-old daughter Ava Berlin, kept a mobility scooter within reach to assist with his trek at the sprawling theme park.

In March, the actor shared his physical recovery progress with fans and posted a clip of himself walking on the treadmill on social media.

During his appearance on 'Kimmel Monday', Renner was described by the late-night host as "indestructible" and the "toughest Avenger" among his A-list co-stars. "Was this a publicity stunt?" Kimmel quipped, to which Renner played along, saying, "Absolutely." The talk show host continued, "Now if there was any question as to who the toughest Avenger was, that's settled now. Forget [Chris] Hemsworth. Forget these guys. It's you. You're the guy." Renner replied, "Yeah, I guess so." Kimmel added, "I think I speak for all of us when I say, thank God, look at you, you look great. We're glad to see you here."

'My eye did pop out'

While on the show, Renner joked about how he had a "very bad start to the year," revealing that the accident had caused him to break "35 or so" bones and that he was "lucky" the plow had "missed every vertebra, didn't hit any organs, my brain didn't swell, nothing like that." However, he said his "eye did pop out," adding, "That's weird, but yeah... I got very lucky that none of the organs got messed up."

Renner then noted how the accident was a blessing in disguise since it cleared up his schedule. "My first conscious thought was like, 'Holy hell! My calendar is freed up for the rest of the year!'" he recalled, admitting that his "year was pretty jammed up until I got crushed." He also said being in recovery helped him accomplish a new year resolution of his. "[The accident] was like a New Year's resolution, so I did drop like 20 pounds. I quit smoking. It's the easiest way to quit smoking," he revealed.
