Here's some good news for ‘Jeopardy!’ fans. The makers of the game show are planning to treat fans with two hosts in the upcoming 39th season. According to reports, Mayim Bialik and Ken Jennings have been retained as the permanent hosts of the beloved trivia show after Alex Trebek's death.

The update comes weeks after executive producer Michael Davies told Variety, “The scandal was, as we call it at ‘Jeopardy!,’ ‘the awkward months. But it showed the power of our audience and how passionately our fans care about the program, which is just so important. What’s happened over the course of the season — Matt Amodio, and Amy Schneider and Mattea [Roach] and Ryan [Long] — really made us just remember how incredible the game is. The stars of our show and Mayim and Ken have done incredible job hosting.”

Mayim Bialik or Ken Jennings? Jeopardy! fans debate who will be show’s permanent host

Indicating that they would need multiple hosts for the ‘Jeopardy!’ franchise as they launch more versions of the show, he added by saying, “We hope to have a hosting announcement very, very soon. But with all of our plans for ‘Jeopardy!’ — which is more ‘Jeopardy!,’ not less, more versions —we’re going to need multiple hosts to represent the entire audience, to represent the entire country, in order to take this franchise forward.”

Signed the contract deal?

According to Deadline, Bialik and Jennings are working toward a deal to split the hosting role. However, the representatives for Sony Pictures Television declined to comment on it. As per the reports, for Bialik, negotiations are focused largely on availability as the new season of her Fox series 'Call Me Kat' is set to produce more episodes next season. She is also expected to host 'Celebrity Jeopardy!' for ABC, which is also produced by Michael Davies. On the other hand, Jennings will stay on so that Bialik can continue to shoot for the series. They will rotate hosting duties, as reported by DailyMail.

Fans choose their favorite

However, social media has selected their permanent host. One user wrote, "Boo hiss, I’m so disappointed. @KenJennings as the host PLEASE. Oh well, I’ll still watch but not as enthusiastically." Many voted for Ken Jenning as one tweeted by saying, "@Jeopardy please pick Ken Jenning as permanent host. He is much better to watch, better for the game. Mayim is just not serious, giddy at times, I don’t enjoy her style of hosting. I know it is ‘woke’ these days to pick a woman, but for once pick the best candidate instead." Other wrote, "He is great its the host I cannot stand she thinks the show is about her and not the contestants, who cares about her personal opinions. I wish they would make Ken Jenning the permanent host, he understands how the show works just like Alex."

However, there were a few who showed their support for Bialik and others were happy with both the hosts. One fan said: "I love Mayim as host of Jeopardy and bringing this car deal to me!!!"

"While I prefer Mayim Bialik, Ken Jennings has really lowered the annoying factor, dropped his vicious attacks on Republicans, and is at least ... bearable."
