In fact, Lopez and Affleck have been in touch with each other as more than friends for months now, even when the singer-songwriter was dating her ex-fiance, Alex Rodriguez.
According to TMZ, the Batman actor started emailing 'The Boy Next Door' actress when she was filming in the Dominican Republic, for the film, 'Shotgun Wedding.' As for the tone of the emails, they were not just friendly but also loving and longing for Lopez. While Affleck was in Boston shooting 'The Tender Bar' with George Clooney, he reportedly reached out to the 'If You Had My Love' singer via email just to tell her how beautiful she looked in the pictures published of her shooting in the Caribbean and how he wished he could be with her at the time.

How Affleck used to 'own' Lopez's heart with a pen
And despite being engaged to the former baseball pro, in one of the emails, Lopez reminisced about the time when Affleck was able to "own her heart" with his pen and how she loved his writing. Throughout the duration of Lopez's shoot, the pair kept writing back and forth till the shoot wrapped up in April. According to TMZ sources, there was no physical meeting or contact between Affleck and Lopez during that period of time. Rodriguez and Lopez had released a joint statement on April 15, announcing the end of their engagement. The couple released a statement saying that they were "better off as friends" amid claims of infidelity. "We have realized we are better as friends and look forward to remaining so," their statement to Today on April 15 read.
Lopez and Affleck were spotted together, spending some quality time at the Big Sky Resort in Montana, an area close to Yellowstone National Park recently. According to E! News, J-Lo and Affleck could be rekindling their "strong connection" to "see where this could lead." And as it turns out, Lopez is enjoying every bit of attention she is getting from her old boyfriend. "She had a great time with Ben," a source told People magazine of the pair's getaway. "She is happy with him and enjoys spending time with him."
Their trip to Montana comes over a week after the exes were pictured outside her Los Angeles home in late April. Then on Monday, May 10, sources told the outlet that Lopez and Affleck were spotted riding in a car together near a resort in Big Sky, where the actor owns a home.

Affleck and Lopez had both gone their separate ways 17 years ago after being hailed as one of the biggest celebrity couples of the early 2000s.
