LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jennifer Lawrence is trolled on social media as she claims to be the first-ever female action movie lead. In an interview with Variety along with Viola Davis, she explained, "I remember when I was doing ‘Hunger Games,’ nobody had ever put a woman in the lead of an action movie because it wouldn’t work — because we were told girls and boys can both identify with a male lead, but boys cannot identify with a female lead."

Further, she added, "And it just makes me so happy every single time I see a movie come out that just blows through every one of those beliefs and proves that it is just a lie to keep certain people out of the movies. To keep certain people in the same positions they’ve always been in."

In this conversation, she mentioned about her character Katniss Everdeen in 'The Hunger Games'. The actress further explained, " In 'Hunger Games,' it was an awesome responsibility. Those books were huge, and I knew that the audience was children. I remember the biggest conversation was 'How much weight are you going to lose?' Along with me being young and growing and not able to be on a diet, I don’t know if I want all of the girls who are going to dress up as Katniss to feel like they can’t because they’re not a certain weight. And I can’t let that seep into my brain either," reported Variety.

Meanwhile, David also asked her about playing bigger tentpole moves in 'X- Men'. To which she responded, "I remember the biggest conversation was "How much weight are you going to lose?" Along with me being young and growing and not able to be on a diet, I don’t know if I want all of the girls who are going to dress up as Katniss to feel like they can’t because they’re not a certain weight. And I can’t let that seep into my brain, either."

'Such a weird wrong take'

Netizens quickly reacted to Lawrence's comment. A user said, "Now how Jennifer Lawrence gon sit up here and say there wasn’t a female actress in an action movie until her in hunger games….. so what was Pam Grier, Sigourney Weaver, Uma Thurman and Mila Jovovich doing?."  Another added, "That’s offensive and rude to all the other iconic female actors u mentioned. Can’t believe she actually said this." A tweet read, "Even if you ignore all the amazing leading ladies before the hunger games, Reba in tremors is RIGHT there!." A tweet stated, "Such a weird wrong take? Like how did she come to that conclusion…"

Meanwhile, the Editor of Rewire news, Imani Gandied Yams, tweeted, "oh honey, no. Linda Hamilton, Sigourney Weaver, Milla Jovovich, Angela Jolie, even Charlize Theron did Aeon Flux in 2005. Come on man." Author, Dart Adams wrote, "Cleopatra Jones” never happened. “Coffy” never happened. “Aliens” never happened. “Long Kiss Goodnight” never happened. “La Femme Nikita” never happened. “Crouching Tiger, Hidden Dragon” never happened. “Underworld” never happened. “Doomsday” never happened. There’s MANY more… " Columnist and TV personality Meghan McCain claimed, "What about Ripley in Alien and Sarah Connor in Terminator? Because I was obsessed with them growing up…"

A user tweeted, "I knew there was something deeply uncool about JL. how dare she." Another added, "Did she really think she was the first woman action star? I'm all for representation, which is why I'm a bit disappointed in this statement." A user said, "Angelina Jolie as Lara Croft! Pam Grier in Foxy Brown! Cameron Diaz, Lucy Liu, Heather Graham, or Farrah Fawcett, Cheryl Ladd, and Jaclyn Smith in Charlie's Angels! This...there's something wrong with the people in Hollywood!."
