Who are Jean Marc's sons Emile and Alex? Brothers follow dad into film industry
Canadian writer, director, and editor Jean-Marc Vallée died suddenly on December 26, according to reports. The multi-talented man is best remembered for directing the Oscar-winning 'Dallas Buyers Club', as well as the highly-rated 'C.R.A.Z.Y'. A cause of death is not yet available, but early reports indicate it was sudden, leaving his family in shock.
Jean-Marc joins a long list of celebrities we lost in 2021, such as 'Nomadland' star Melissa Yandell Smith and 'The Wire' actor Michael K. Williams. Another shocking death that left fans devastated was that of Joey Morgan, the 28-year-old who made waves with his acting in 'Scouts Guide to the Zombie Apocalypse'. Like Jean-Marc, Morgan's death was sudden, leaving many of his fans heartbroken and devastated.

Little information is available as of the time of reporting as to the cause of Jean-Marc's death. Deadline, which broke the story reported, "he passed away at his cabin outside Quebec City, and that his family and close advisors are in shock." He is survived by Alex and Émile, his two sons as well as several siblings.
Who are Alex and Emile?
Jean-Marc's two sons decided to follow in their father's footsteps, taking up numerous roles in the film industry. Beyond their professional endeavors, little is known about Alex and Emile, as they prefer to live low-key lives like their dad. Alex has worked as a producer, editor, actor, and director on numerous projects, including the hit TV show 'Big Little Lies'. He's also acted in several Canadian productions like the short film 'Ainsi soit-elle' and 'Providence'.
Emile too is a multi-talented star who has tried his hand at acting, cinematography, and editing. In 2005, he even acted in 'C.R.A.Z.Y', which Jean-Marc directed. More recently though, he's been working as an editor on several projects including 'Ainsi soit-elle', 'Big Little Lies', and 'Sharp Objects'. In 2015, it was reported Emile was dating Salome, the daughter of another Canadian bigwig - Denis Villeneuve. It's unclear if the couple is still together.
Both brothers are also credited with "special thanks" for Jean-Marc's 2009 film 'The Young Victoria', which he directed. Based on the early life of Queen Victoria, the period piece was written by 'Downton Abbey' creator Julian Fellowes and went on to win one Academy Award from the three it was nominated for. The film marks the only time the two brothers worked with their dad. Alex appears to have taken a break, with his last credit coming in the 2019 short film 'Ainsi soit-elle', while Emile is credited on the 2020 short 'The Gentle Art of Violence'.
Nothing else is known about the two siblings at this time. They are yet to comment on the death of Jean-Marc, which has now led to a flood of tributes online.
