‘I'd be lying if I said I didn't': Jason Derulo pats himself on the back for transforming TikTok forever
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Jason Derulo has given himself kudos for transforming TikTok from "just a dance app" into the popular social media platform it is today. The singer was one of the first popular creators on the now hugely successful platform, and at the beginning of the pandemic, one of his songs became a dancing craze. Derulo is convinced he changed the app "forever" by introducing things no one had ever thought of before.
In a recent interview with Kick Game, the singer opened up about his TikTok revolution. Derulo said he "started to introduce other things" at a time when TikTok was just a dance app. He claimed that he wanted to explore the app after noticing that young people were using it, but he didn't begin until the pandemic, when he finally found some free time.

Asked whether he knew TikTok would become the massive app it is today, Derulo said, “I’d be lying if I said that I didn’t. I had fun with it, honestly. It was a dance app at first. It being a dance app, I felt like, I don’t know if this is gonna work. Everybody doesn’t like to dance. So I was like, ‘Let me start posting other sh*t.’ I tried to post a photo, that didn’t work. People was like, ‘What the f*ck is this?’ Then I started to post random story-like videos. That didn’t work.”
“What worked was when I was posting things that was more fun. Things that showed another side of me, you know what I’m saying? I was like, ‘Okay, this is a moment where I can be a leader and do something that’s totally different on the app.’ I think it changed the app forever because TikTok used to be just a dance app, and it wasn’t until I started to introduce other things that it became the app that it is today. And to this day, TikTok pays me…Let me not say that,” he added.

People did other things on tiktok way before he even joined. Idk why these celebrities want to be the “I did it first” or “I started this trend” so bad when other creators did things before they started joining and taking credit for everything.

However, social media refused to take Derulo's words seriously and mocked him for his claims. One user wrote on Twitter, “He is trying so hard to stay relevant.” “The only impact between those two is TikTok on Jason Derulo. TikTok helped him out especially with that music career,” another added. Someone wondered, “I’ve never seen a Jason Derulo TikTok on my fyp likeee lil bro what impact????” “People did other things on tiktok way before he even joined.
