Hollywood legend Jane Fonda made shocking comments about Covid-19 and called it 'God's gift to the left' after President Donald Trump contracted the virus. Fonda's comments came just days after Trump was discharged from the Walter Reed Medical Center where he spent three days being treated. Fonda said, I just think that Covid is God's gift to the Left."

"That's a terrible thing to say. I think it was a very difficult thing to send down to us, but it has ripped the band-aid off who [Trump] is and what he stands for and what is being done to average people and working people in this country," Fonda revealed on a zoom call.

She further shared that the pandemic had served as an existential crossroads as a means to encourage issues like climate change. She revealed, "What a great gift, what a tremendous opportunity, we are so lucky, we have to use it with every ounce of intelligence and courage and wherewithal we have." Many social media users took to the comments section to call Fonda out on her comments. One such user shared, "Jane doesn't care about the suffering of families who have lost their beloved loved ones or the elderly in nursing facilities separated from their families, only politics."

Another social media user commented, "My dad was a Frontline Physician treating patients when he got COVID-19 & passed away in August. Jane thinks his life is not of value because he was a Conservative. He would have tried to save her life, no matter what her belief system,& even knowing how she felt. Shame on her." "No one is happy that this invisible virus hit us.. it upsets me when anyone dies or suffers. No one should wish it upon anyone either. No one deserves that," commented yet another.

Another outraged social media user shared, "Those affected by Covid, either directly or indirectly find you offensive. Lucky for you, you’re the only one that has to live with you." A Twitter user who echoed the same sentiments chimed in, "I hate to wish ill on people. I could wish her all the karma she deserves for this statement though. Will that work?"

We had earlier reported that Dr Atul Gawande who had appeared on 'The View' diagnosed President Donald Trump with "classic steroid euphoria". He also slammed Trump for his "reckless and dangerous message" after he had returned to the White House from the Walter Reed National Military Medical Center.

Trump was seen removing his mask upon his return to the White House despite being contagious, Fox News reports. Dr Gawande shared, "he is still contagious. He's in the midst of being actively infected. He is walking in the White House continuing to question and belittle mask use and that is not the message that we need to send, especially as we have the infection rates continuing to climb."

Donald Trump and his wife Melania had both tested positive for coronavirus last week. Trump himself had shared the news on Twitter.
