'The nightmare's finally over': Internet rejoices as James Corden quits 'The Late Late Show'
Comedian and talk show host James Corden will exit 'The Late Late Show' on CBS television in 2023 after eight years in the job, a network spokesperson said on Thursday, April 28, a departure that may signal a larger shift in the direction of late-night television. “It’s been it’s a really hard decision to leave because I’m so immensely proud of the show. I’m thrilled to be extending [for a year],” Corden said in a statement. “I always thought I’d do it for five years and then leave and then I stayed on. I’ve really been thinking about it for a long time, thinking whether there might be one more adventure.”

Following his announcement, one of his fans wrote on Twitter, "Papa Mochi can’t leave Late Night. That show will never be the same without you. Personally, I’ll never watch again once you’re gone. I can’t. It won’t measure up to what you bring in spontaneity, laughter and entertainment. Anyone that’s made you feel this is right move is wrong". Another wrote: "I've been watching since day 1 and have never missed an episode of the show, I stay up just to see this amazing group have fun!". "I am selfishly saddened with the news, James. I am truly happy for you and only wish you the world of success in your future! Thank you for entertaining us these many years, getting us through the challenging and celebrating the good. YOU ALL deserve the very best. Cheers," wrote another fan. A fourth fan wrote "You see what you did America with increasing gas prices !!! No more carpool karoake now will miss you James , let's celebrate coming 12 months as an epic farewell #LateLateShow".

“Seven years ago, James Corden came to the US and took television by storm, with huge creative and comedic swings that resonated in a big way with viewers on-air and online,” said George Cheeks, president and CEO of CBS. “We wish he could stay longer, but we are very proud he made CBS his American home and that this partnership will extend one more season on The Late Late Show,” Cheeks added.
