CLEVELAND OHIO: Jake Paul slammed Daniel Cormier for 'sucking up' to Dana White and being unable to take charge of his own career. Prior to his bout against Sean O'Malley, YouTuber turned boxer Aljamain Sterling appeared as a guest on the most recent edition of his show with Paul.

Paul alleged that the guys that suck up to Dana White and allow him to manage their careers are always the favorites in the UFC. The YouTube star was not happy with Cormier’s extended run.

'Wants to make him a commentator'

Paul said, “It's people like Daniel Cormier who just suck up to Dana and just say yes to whatever it is that he wants to do for his whole entire career because Daniel wants to play that long route and then eventually, you know Dana wants to make him a commentator. Because Daniel has just always said yes, yes, yes, and followed along and never questioned anything.”

Jake Paul went on to say that in the battle game, the 'villain' might earn more money. He could identify with Aljamain Sterling, who he said is equally despised by many UFC supporters.

10 years of Daniel Cormier in UFC

When Cormier entered the UFC for the first time in April 2013, he took on great heavyweight grappler Frank Mir. DC had just won the Strikeforce Heavyweight Grand Prix Tournament at the time.

However, Frank Mir was a previous UFC heavyweight champion who had just defeated Junior dos Santos for the belt. Ten years later, DC recalled how anxious he felt throughout the fight, saying that all he did was clinch with his opponent out of dread of losing. On his DC & RC program with Ryan Clark, he made this statement.

"I hugged Frank Mir for 15 minutes. I was so nervous, RC, I didn't want to lose so bad, that I just clinched him a lot of the time and it was a really boring fight," he said. Daniel Cormier considered Dana White's underwhelming response to the clinch-centric style of his UFC debut.

“And you know how I tell you, the, you know, it's boring, RC? Because I was working at Fox at the time, and I remember going to, going to work on Wednesday and Dana used to come to this show called UFC Tonight all the time and he walked up to me and he goes 'Oh, you're hosting the Big Show already'. And I was so excited and so happy, Ryan, and that dude goes, and that person from the show goes 'It doesn't look like he fought, right Dana?' And Dana goes 'Well he didn't, all he did was hug the guy for 15 minutes',” he added.

Even if Cormier's fight with Mir wasn't the most thrilling contest ever, DC eventually established himself as one of the greatest mixed martial artists of all time.
