Jake Paul shows 'loyalty' to Sean O'Malley, bets $2K on Aljamain Sterling losing UFC bantamweight title: 'It's my boy'
CLEVELAND, OHIO: In front of "Funk Master," Jake Paul just staked $2000 on Sean O'Malley defeating Aljamain Sterling to win the UFC bantamweight championship. On August 19 at the TD Garden Arena in Boston, O'Malley is scheduled to face Sterling for the bantamweight championship. UFC 292 will take place there.
On the BS with Jake Paul podcast, the controversial YouTuber-turned-boxer recently had Sterling as a guest. The two men talked about a variety of issues, including Paul's forthcoming fight against Nate Diaz on August 5. Sean has frequently been seen out and about with Jake and his elder brother Logan Paul, and they seem to be good friends.
'It's my boy'
'The Problem Child' exhorted Aljamain Sterling to express himself freely as he nervously attempted to anticipate the result of Diaz vs. Paul. As a result, Paul's co-host interrupted him to remind him of his own prediction for Aljamain Sterling vs. Sean O'Malley. Jake Paul confessed to Aljamain Sterling that he had wagered money on his close buddy "Suga" and provided an explanation saying, “I have to go with Sean because it's my boy. It's my boy.”
Paul then shook hands with his second co-host, who placed a $2000 wager on Sterling to successfully defend his championship and added, “It's not anything against you [Aljamain Sterling], it's just, I have loyalty... That's just how I am. I've known Sean since three years ago. At the end of the day, I think it'll be a good fight.”
O’Malley vs Sterling
On August 19, O'Malley is scheduled to face Sterling for the bantamweight championship at UFC 292 at the TD Garden Arena in Boston. As 'Suga's opponent is the first and only bantamweight champion to successfully defend his 135-pound championship three times, the much-anticipated fight will likely be the most difficult test of his professional career.
Sean O'Malley and Aljamain Sterling also don't get along, and they've been exchanging jabs on social media for the past few months. 'Funk Master' just posted an intriguing jab at 'Suga' on Twitter.
Sterling threatened to "dump" O'Malley on his head in a manner that recreates the Boston Tea Party of 1773 and hinted that the 28-year-old didn't merit the title.
Sean O'Malley hasn't lost in his previous five fights and is coming off a highly contentious split-decision victory against Petr Yan. Aljamain Sterling, who recently successfully defended his championship against Henry Cejudo at UFC 288, is now riding a remarkable nine-fight winning streak.
