Jake Paul anticipates financial loss in Dec 15 bout against Andre August: 'Break-even fight for me'
CLEVELAND, OHIO: Jake Paul has disclosed that his battle with Andre August is costing him money. Paul's third fight of the year is scheduled to take place in the squared circle the following month.
Paul faced Tommy Fury in February 2023, the hardest test of his career to date, and ultimately lost via split decision. In August, he made a comeback to the ring, facing off against former UFC fighter Nate Diaz.
Following his unanimous decision victory against Diaz, Jake Paul is eager to put his prowess to the test against Andre August, a 10-1 professional boxer. Paul has revealed something really fascinating ahead of the battle: he could lose money in this fight.
Jake Paul states fighting Andre August is not about money
This bout is going to be his first fight off of a pay-per-view. Furthermore, the fight will take place at the Caribe Royale Resort in Orlando, Florida, in a rather small stadium that can only hold about 3000 spectators.
In a recent interview with TMZ Sports, Paul discussed the same thing saying, "This is probably just a break-even fight for me. I probably won't even make money on it. Who knows what the outcome is? It's $200,000 for a private jet you know to fly around just to get the team there and back."
He added, "When you factor in all of these things, it's not about the money, it's really about focusing on staying sharp and the experience of challenging myself in the ring."
Internet reacts to Jake Paul's statement
People have dropped their views on Jake Paul's statement. A user commented, "Kudos to Jake for taking the risk of fighting an unknown guy to quell the criticism...but if he loses, it will be really bad for his brand."
Another person added, "This guy isn’t relevant anymore, most ppl don’t care about his fights. He’s a rookie boxer who fights non boxers….have a think."
A user also said, "Every active fighter that hangs and promotes Jake and Logan bald end up losing their respect, fans and then fights," while one mentioned, "Goat."
One added, "You lost to Tommy fury."
