SAN FRANCISCO, CALIFORNIA: A few months ago Paul Pelosi, the husband of US House of Representatives Speaker Nancy Pelosi, was attacked by a hammer-wielding intruder David DePape inside his San Francisco home. Moments before David attacked him, Paul was able to swiftly call 911, and alert the police of the intruder. However, the chilling 911 call from October 28, has been now released, where an overly calm yet desperate Paul could be heard telling the dispatcher "I've got a problem."

Paul is heard speaking calmly with the operator, identified as Heather Grives, as he attempts to subtly warn her that he is in danger. "There is a gentleman here waiting for my wife to come back," he said. "She's not going to be here for a day, so I guess we'll have to wait. Is the Capitol Police around? They’re usually here at the house protecting my wife." The dispatcher then informs Paul she's calling the San Francisco police, leading Paul to cross-check with David asking, "'What do you think?"

Following a muffled conversation, David allegedly tells paul, "I think we're ok." "He thinks everything's good, I've got a problem, but he thinks everything's good," Paul relays to the dispatcher. However, when the dispatcher tells a calm Paul to call in case the situation overturns, he abruptly tells her, "No, this gentleman just came into my house, and he wants to wait for my wife to come home." "I don't know who he is. He's telling me not to do anything. He's telling me to put the phone down, and to do what he says." Whilst David could be overheard telling the 911 dispatcher, he is "a friend" of the Pelosi's.

"He says he's a friend, but I don't know him," responds Paul. "He's telling me I'm being very leading, so I have to stop talking to you ok?"Paul then cuts the call, while telling the dispatcher David wants him "to get the hell off the phone." Minutes later, the police arrive at Paul's house and notice the two in a brawl before David violently swings the hammer at Paul. He was rushed to the hospital and David was apprehended. In the tragic incident, Paul suffered a fractured skull and injuries to his right arm and hands. David has pleaded not guilty to multiple charges in Paul's assault.

'This looks bad no matter how you look at it!'

Internet users had a mixed reaction to the chilling 911 audio. One user wrote on Twitter, "After reviewing all three tapes plus the 911 call, there remains THREE questions remain. Did Paul and David know each other? Why didn’t Paul set the residence security alarm that night? Who was the passenger in Paul’s Napa DUI arrest?" Another chimed, "It's a part of the clip. The rest of it's out there. This looks bad no matter how you look at it." A third user questioned, "If you’re an 82 year old man, and someone breaks in, what’s your plan of action? Are you going to try to over power the guy? Genuinely asking." "He’s clearly trying to de escalate. The dude was terrified," a fourth user claimed. "Ok, so it happened exactly as they said it did," read a tweet. A user tweeted, "Wow. . . I was one of those ppl that said "there's no way that's how that happened". And I was wrong. Wow"
