Is Randy Jackson sick? Internet worried as musician looks like 'synthetic robotoid' in TV appearance
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Former 'American Idol' judge Randy Jackson, 66, was diagnosed with type 2 diabetes in 2002; at the time of the diagnosis he weighed around 350 pounds. When Jackson made an appearance on 'American Idol' in May last year, his fans had raised several questions about his health. Recently, Jackson made another appearance on Fox's 'Name That Tune's Celebrity Edition, the third season of which premiered on January 11. His latest TV appearance made several users worried about his health as they believe he looked 'sick' and unrecognizable.
In his 2008 book, 'Body With Soul', Jackson wrote, “It’s a curse to be saddled with a disease that’s life-threatening and that you can’t completely get rid of, though you can certainly manage it,” as reported by US Weekly. Jackson further added, “But it’s a blessing to get that huge wake-up call. After that day in the ER, when my doctor burst the bubble I’d been living in, I couldn’t lie to myself anymore. Right then and there, I began my journey toward better health.”

Is Randy Jackson sick?
After being diagnosed with type 2 diabetes, Jackson underwent a gastric bypass surgery in 2003, the procedure reduces the size of the stomach and reroutes part of the digestive system, so that less food is absorbed, according to US Weekly. Since then, he has managed to maintain his 114 lb weight loss by eating healthy, avoiding crash diets and prioritizing his gut health.
Talking about his health journey, Jackson in an interview with Today, said, “Years ago, when ‘Idol’ first started, I was like 358. I had to get it down, man.” He then shared information about his gastric bypass, saying, "“What I did is, I went through, I had gastric bypass. I started Unify Health Labs, my own vitamin line. I had a food divorce is what I usually say. I had to let it all go and start over.” Jackson founded 'Unify Health Labs' in 2019, a nutrition company that offers science-backed supplements to help others reach their goals.
After the musician's latest appearance on 'Name That Tune', several internet users commented on his health and weight loss. A user took to Twitter and wrote, "You know who lost a bunch of weight and looks super weird now? Randy Jackson. I saw him on some show last night and the dude looks sick or something." Another user agreed and wrote, "I thought the same thing, saw it last night too."
