'RHOP' star Mia Thornton reveals her mother missed Mother's Day event while is otherwise busy in activities with her sister

POTOMAC, MARYLAND: After nine episodes of Deep Space: On Tour, 'The Real Housewives of Potomac' viewers finally get an episode with Candiace Dillard-Bassett at the helm, with a Mother's Day Brunch event partnering Parfums De Marly. However, when Mia Thornton seemed to be sad over the fact that her mother missed the event but loves to hang out with her sister, many began to question their relationship.

Mia informed Candiace that her mother would not be attending because "she's not available." She claimed she got it since her mother was "at work."

Mia stated that she has reached a place where she is "good." In her confessional, she stated, "My sister and my mom do everything together." They travel to malls to get manicures and pedicures.

"That's great and all, but you have more children."

Mia's siblings are Brianna R. Lynem, Daryl E. Lynem Jr., and Candis N. Lynem. Candis graduated from high school in 2014 and enrolled at Capella University.

She received her bachelor's degree in personal administration and human resources in 2020. In addition, the Department of Professional and Business Regulations granted her a cosmetology license.

However, Candis' career began much earlier. She joined Regis Corporation as a Salon Manager in 2001.

She began working as an Account Service Person for HairUWear, Inc., in July 2012. Candis joined the Diagnostic Centers of America (DCA) as a Human Resource Generalist in May 2019.

The company hired her until February 2020. However, she started working as a Human Resource Generalist at FirstService Residential in February 2020.

Moving on, Briana, her sister, attended The Ohio State University and graduated with a psychology degree in 2011. She earned a master's degree in human resources and organizational development at the University of Louisville.

She formerly worked as an HR Generalist for Centric Consulting and on the HR Committee for the Columbus Urban League.

On X, fans speculated, "Mias mom doesn’t want to be used as a storyline anymore on tv! Mia is a fraud." While another user chimed in, "well of course your mom gotta work Mia ... so do you , that's why you at the brunch cuz y'all need money !"  

One user also felt, "I don’t blame Mia’s mom for not coming to the event when Candiace accused Mia of using her mom for a storyline." While a fourth user thought, "Mia didn’t ask her mom to come."

One user quipped, "Is Mia’s mom not available or did she not invite her?! QTNA." "I was wondering if Mia’s mom would really be attending. Maybe her and Karen can lean on each other since they both attending solo," wrote another.

Mia caught up with her real mother on one of the 'RHOP' episodes that aired. She looked further into her early memories and learned more about her father from her mother.

After being released from rehab, Mia met her mother for the first time. The two met together for a relaxing brunch, but things suddenly became heated.

Mia immediately asked her mother why she was placed in foster care. Then her mother stated that she was acting in Mia's best interest.

When Mia continued to probe her mother, she finally gave up and acknowledged that Mia's father had introduced her to opioids.

According to sources, Mia was born Mia Nicole Fields and grew up in Dallas, Texas, until her father was promoted, forcing them to relocate. Mia spent her early years in tropical South Florida.

She claims that she was reared in Churchton, Maryland. The 'RHOP' star was reared in foster care as a child.

Mia is the adoptive daughter of Daryl Lynem and Robin Elaine Lynem. She said that her parents were drug addicts in recovery who were unable to provide for her throughout her early years.

Her mother, Robin Elaine Lynem, died in December 2018, aged 58.

Candiace Dillard-Bassett insulted 'RHOP' costar Mia Thornton's mother

In a 2021 'RHOP' episode, Candiace responded to housewife Mia with an offensive comment. Candiace and Mia feuded on the 'RHOP' episode when Mia criticized Candiace for her music video shoot.

Mia referred to the project as "low budget," prompting Candiace to respond. Candiace remarked, "Your mama's low budget, watch your mouth."

Because of Mia's family background, the rest of the group reacted negatively to this slur. The housewife was raised in foster care since her mother was incarcerated and abused drugs.

Candiace's dig was not well received by the other housewives, who are aware of Mia's efforts to repair her connection with her mother.
