Following the death of her old 'Home And Away' co-star Dieter Brummer last week, Melissa George has stayed curiously silent. While the 44-year-old has yet to express her sympathies on social media, she did resurface on Instagram to share an inappropriate death meme on Sunday, August 1.

Brummer was found dead in his Sydney home on Saturday, July 24. No foul play has been suspected so far in Brummer's death. Police are investigating a possible suicide. However, his premature death at the age of 45 reflects the mysterious nature of his personal life, considering that the outrageously attractive man who played Shane Parrish on the hit Australian soap had never been romantically associated with anyone.

Brummer's on-screen lady love Melissa George, who played Shane's wife, Angel Parrish, was the only time he was attached to someone. And the reason for Brummer and George's romance making headlines wasn't entirely favorable.

Is Melissa George OK?

Melissa's meme about death was terribly ill-timed and not in very good taste. Taking to her Instagram stories on August 1, she uploaded a photo of a whiteboard where she wrote: "Every dead body on Mt. Everst [sic] was once a highly motivated person. So... maybe calm down."

The post's meaning is still up for debate, but one possible reading is that it's a warning to people who take on difficult projects without considering the hazards, the Daily Mail reported. Melissa, who was born in Australia and now lives in Paris, raised concerns among admirers when she chose not to post a public homage to Brummer on social media following his death last week.

George has also refused to comment on her late co-death star's when contacted by the Daily Mail Australia. George portrayed Angel Brooks, his on-screen wife, but their behind-the-scenes relationship was anything but ideal. Brummer, the former adolescent heartthrob, who was discovered dead on July 24 at a residence in Sydney's Glenhaven, had shown open scorn for each other. Brummer acknowledged to Woman's Day magazine in November 2019 that he had never gotten along with George in real life.

"We may have been love interests on the show but the chemistry was far from real!" Brummer had said at the time. "Mel was incredibly ambitious right from the outset. I think she wanted to be the next Kylie Minogue. She was a big fan and she aspired to be a big star just like Kylie. I don't think she had much time for the cast of 'Home and Away'."

After urging the show's producers to kill him off, Brummer stated he hadn't spoken to George since he departed the soap, the news outlet reported. In July 2018, he told news.com.au that his real-life connection with George wasn't what people expected. "There was a lot of pressure on us. We had to look like the perfect darling couple in public,' he said, adding, "It wasn't like anything off screen. It was all on screen."
