MIAMI, FLORIDA: WWE legend and Hall of Famer, Jerry "The King" Lawler was rushed to hospital after he suffered a medical emergency, according to multiple reports. The 73-year-old iconic WWE commentator had a stroke and had undergone surgery at a Florida Hospital.

Fellow wrestler Ricky Morton, 66, confirmed the news by tweeting, "I hope my friend is going to be okay. I love you, Jerry. Please direct good vibes, thoughts, & prayers to Jerry at this time. Genuinely appreciate it & hope to hear good news in the very near future." Pro wrestling and combat sports journalist Dave Meltzer also confirmed the news. "Hope for the best for Jerry Lawler," he tweeted.

What happened to Jerry Lawler?

Jerry Lawler suffered a stroke while he was having lunch with his friends. He fell ill and was immediately rushed to a Florida hospital where he had undergone surgery. The news was confirmed by his friend, Ricky Morton, who is considered as one of the best tag-team wrestlers of all time. 

Just a few hours ago, Dave Meltzer tweeted that situation looked to be very grim for Lawler initially. However, now he is awake "but it's a very serious situation". 



 

What was Jerry Lawler doing in the recent past?

Jerry Lawler recently appeared on WWE Raw to return to the commentary booth for a match to celebrate the longest weekly television show's 30th anniversary. Prior to that, he was seen at WWE Royal Rumble 2023 as one of the kick-off show panelists for the premium live event along with Booker T and Peter Rosenberg. The Memphis wrestling icon also wrestled Scott Steiner in March 2022 at USA Pro Wrestling's 29th Anniversary Show in Orlando.

Jerry Lawler health issues 

This is not the first time that Jerry Lawler has faced a medical emergency. He has had heart issues in the past as well, as he nearly died after he suffered a cardiac arrest during a 2012 episode of 'Monday Night Raw'. He also had a stroke in 2018. Jerry Lawler was inducted into the WWE Hall of Fame in 2007 and stopped being the voice of the show in April 2020.

Twitter users and wrestling fans also poured their love and send their prayers for Lawler's quick recovery. One fan tweeted, "You're in my prayers for a speedy recovery King", while another wrote, "Sending prayers, Get well soon." One tweeted, "Always a favorite of mine" and another posted, "Sending healing to you." "Get better king !", wrote one fan.
