Bradley Cooper takes charge with triple role in ‘Ocean’s’ prequel with Margot Robbie and we've a release date
Bradley Cooper is all set to helm the upcoming 'Ocean's' prequel movie and will also star alongside Margot Robbie. For the past several weeks, rumors about the prequel movie's fate had been circulating, and Warner Bros. made the exciting announcement during its CinemaCon presentation on Tuesday. The news was confirmed by studio heads Pam Abdy and Mike De Luca. Although the film does not yet have a working title, it is slated for release on June 25, 2027.
Apart from writing, directing, and starring in the prequel, Cooper shall also produce alongside the LuckyChap banner owned by Robbie. The presentation, which took place at a venue in Las Vegas, also featured a surprise virtual appearance from Robbie herself, who turned up to reveal, "Before Danny Ocean ever stepped foot in Vegas, two masterminds taught him everything he knows: his parents. You’ll see them in all their prime in our new movie, pulling off an epic heist at the 1962 Monaco Grand Prix." In addition to confirming the release date of the 'Ocean's' prequel, Warner Bros. also took the occasion to reveal the rest of its batch of upcoming releases.
The list includes 'Evil Dead Wrath', slated to release on April 7, 2028, and 'The Revenge of La Llorona', releasing on April 9, 2027. 'Final Destination 7' will release on May 12, 2028. 'The Flood' by Zach Cregger will be released on August 11, 2028. 'Gladys', the prequel to 'Weapons', will release on September 8, 2028. The list ends with an untitled Baz Luhrmann film, which is expected to hit the theatres on November 22, 2028. A 'Game of Thrones' prequel is also believed to be in the works at the studio. Given that the presentation teaser hinted at Aegon's character from the show's narrative, one might speculate that the prequel will center on 'Aegon's Conquest'.
The original 'Ocean's Eleven' movie was released in theatres back in 1960 and featured iconic performances from Dean Martin, Frank Sinatra, and the rest of the members of the 'Rat Pack'. The studio rebooted the franchise with Steven Soderbergh's 2001 remake, which starred George Clooney, Brad Pitt, Julia Roberts, and Matt Damon. The upcoming 'Ocean's' prequel has been in the pipeline for some time now. Lee Isaac Chung had been an integral part of the project until his recent departure last month, owing to creative differences. Both Warner Bros. and LuckyChap released a joint statement at the time of Isaac Chung's departure from the film, which read, "Lee Isaac is a singular filmmaking talent whose vision and partnership have been invaluable to Warner Bros. and LuckyChap throughout this journey. Our experience with him has only deepened our enthusiasm to collaborate on future projects together."
