LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Billy Eichner is currently dealing with the low numbers at the box office from the opening of his new film 'Bros' alongside Luke Macfarlane. The movie is about a neurotic podcast host who is detached from the world. However, things take a turn for the better when he finds a lawyer who is exactly like him and they start exposing their vulnerable sides. Universal’s romantic comedy earned a humble $4.8 million and is touted as the first major-studio theatrical gay romantic comedy. Now, the controversial comedian has slammed "homophobic weirdos" for not seeing the movie, leading to an unimpressive box office collection.

The 44-year-old comedian took to his Twitter account to post a series of tweets, "Everyone who ISN’T a homophobic weirdo should go see BROS tonight! You will have a blast! And it *is* special and uniquely powerful to see this particular story on a big screen, esp for queer folks who don’t get this opportunity often. I love this movie so much. GO BROS!!!" In another tweet, the 'Billy on the Street' show star tweeted, "That’s just the world we live in, unfortunately. Even with glowing reviews, great Rotten Tomatoes scores, an A CinemaScore etc, straight people, especially in certain parts of the country, just didn’t show up for Bros. And that’s disappointing but it is what it is." The people, however, did not respond well to this rant and slammed Eichner for his poor choice of words and playing the blame game.

One user wrote, "No offense, but don't tell me what to do...that is my wife's job. I don't need to see a particular movie to let people know I'm not homophobic. My friends and family know me, and I don't really care what strangers think. I'm not into virtue signaling." Another angry user slammed the movie as well as Eichner, "I don’t like slasher movies. Does me not going to the theater to see those movies make me gore-a-phobic? We’re in a recession. People are broke. And it’s incredibly insensitive of you to automatically label people homophobic for not supporting a millionaire’s movie." 

One user tweeted, "Buying a ticket to something you won't see is a viable option for what portion of the population? I did want to see it but after the tweets labelling it as something people should see if they weren't homophobic weirdos I won't be bothering. Not rewarding entitlement and blame." Another user trolled Eichner's marketing skills saying, "Oh honey, I’m a gay and I have no interest in any movie using this kind of guilt tripping for marketing. You got your shot; you failed at making the next 'Trick.'"

One user heavily trolled Eichner saying, "Interesting that you'd blame the low box office on homophobia rather than acknowledge the mathematical reality that your base audience is about 15% of the US population. It's not homophobia, sir. It's math." Another user tweeted, "You straight up told us conservative LGB not to go see it. Do you really think straight people in general that aren't virtue signaling SJWs were going to be interested either way? C'mon."

Eichner has been notoriously private about his relationship deets, but he has always played along with tabloids that have placed him in a fictional relationship. He even played along with a straight couple facade as well. In 2015, he jokingly tweeted, "I can finally say it - I'm dating SUKI WATERHOUSE." In June 2022, Eichner and Anna Kendrick were included mistakenly in a list of celebrity couples. The comedian played along and shared the screenshot of the list online to which Kendrick, as per Just Jared, said, "We can finally live our truth, Billy! You’ve felt so pressured to seem like a gay man that you made #BrosMovie but you’re free now! Our love can flourish!" 

As of now, Eichner is single, especially after Tinder kicked him off the application twice. During the premiere of 'Bros', Eichner jokingly said that he was dating co-star Luke Macfarlane, who plays Aaron in the movie. As per Page Six, Eichner said, "Oh, we’re dating. We’re dating, we’re f--king, it’s amazing. It's very 'Don't Worry Darling.'" Eichner has been known to strictly use his social media for everything but to show off his relationships.
