It was just another day on the 'AITA' Reddit forum as a 47-year-old father was shredded for judging his daughter’s choice of work. The poster, who has a 22-year-old daughter in college, had apparently agreed to help her with her car payments as she balanced a part-time job and studies. However, the father then found out from a colleague that his “daughter strips at a club about 40 minutes away."

"I confronted her on this and she said she didn’t plan to do it after she graduated, and she needed some money. I told her then work at McDonalds, not use her body,” the poster wrote, adding that he and his daughter got into a fight and that he had “asked her to quit stripping and get a decent job then. "She refused and said stripping was easy money, so basically I said there was no need for me to pay her car payment anymore since she is making money so easily. She got upset and said that wasn’t fair, and that she doesn’t make enough for that. I told her to figure it out," the man wrote.

The poster had later said that his daughter went ahead and informed his wife about their argument. He added that his wife did not approve of the stripping, but she was a lot more upset about the poster cutting off their daughter all of a sudden. “I think it’s perfectly fair, it’s my money and my decision when to cut it off,” the poster wrote.

The verdict is in

Most redditors on the platform overwhelmingly took the daughter’s side, with one of them saying, “YTA [You’re the a*****e] by adding conditions to your agreement after the fact. YTA for shaming your daughter. YTA for not being a man of your word.” Another user had said, “He got me at the bit when he told her to go work at McDonalds as if it’s a more “dignified” job. Do I want to make minimum wage at a shitty fast food franchise? Or make a grand a night to shake my ass?”

Another user chastised the poster for not respecting his daughter’s choices by saying, “And… OP you could have avoided this if you had CHOSEN to fully support her through college. But you left her to her own devices and she devised a decent way to make money. You have no right to judge her. YTA.”

Another user also voiced their opinion on the matter and confronted the poster by justifying the daughter’s choices. “YTA. She's doing what she has to do. You may not like it, but it pays a lot better than McDonalds for fewer hours, so she doesn't have to run herself ragged while trying to study, work, and have a social life all at the same time. Unfortunately, minimum wage has stagnated for about two decades due to people your age and older insisting that it should remain low and that jobs like McDonalds are "entry level" jobs and should be paid poverty wages. You're asking for her to demote herself,” the user said.

Another user, who had worked in both a strip club and a fast food service, also supported the daughter’s choice, saying, “I'm going to say this: as someone who has worked in adult entertainment and someone who worked in food service, I was only subjected to verbal and physical abuse from customers at one of those jobs and it was definitely the one where I made $2.13 an hour plus tips.”
