'Was Lady Gaga the model?': Internet erupts as 3D model of Mother Mary resembles the singer-songwriter
A viral tweet has been making the rounds on the internet, showing a reconstructed 3D model of what Mary, mother of Jesus Christ might have looked like. The surprising element? The image of the Mother of God seems to bear a striking resemblance to 'Mother Monster' Lady Gaga.
The post, which has been retweeted over 6.7K times since it was published on October 25, reads: "Scientists at Stanford University have reconstructed this 3D model of how Mary, the mother of Jesus Christ might have looked."

Seeing the collage of three images, one cannot help but notice the facial similarities between the Virgin Mary and Lady Gaga. In reality, there should be no reason why the two would resemble one another. While the former was a Jewish woman from Nazareth, the latter is an American artist of mixed descent, including Italian, French, English, German, and Scottish ancestry.
People on Twitter were quick to point out the resemblance. "It looks like she wants a bad romance," wrote one user, referring to Gaga's iconic 2009 song titled 'Bad Romance' which is frequently praised for its chorus, beat and hook. "It's clearly Lady Gaga," added someone else. "Can't put my hand on it but they look familiar," chimed in another, while sharing a GIF of the 'A Star Is Born' actor.

Another person questioned the validity of the original post's claim, asking what basis did the supposed scientists recreate the model on. "Based on what? A watercolor by her daughter-in-law Mary Magdalene?" they asked, while one user asserted, "Nobody knows. Thereโs no baseline. No known children or parents we can reference. No DNA, no skull." One tweet jokingly prompted, "Was Lady Gaga the model?"

The stream of reactions outpouring from the claim has been hilarious. Twitter user Zack Hunt shared a tweet that read, "Theyโve also done a 3D model of what her husband Joseph might have looked like," and shared an image of none other than Sir Elton John. Another user retweeted the supposed picture of Mary with a reference to Lady Gaga's 2021 film, 'House of Gucci'. "FATHER SON AND HOUSE OF GUCCI," read the tweet. Fans of Gaga seemed to run with the joke, suggesting, "If anyone is capable of bearing the messiah itโs going to be miss Gaga for sure." Another user wrote, "That's Gaga. She was the creative director of Polaroid, and now we know she is the mother of Christ. She really has done it all."
