LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Julia Fox, 32, has recently sparked allegations of condoning sexual assault as one of her comments on TikTok has been considered insensitive by several users.  A TikTok user reportedly used the word 'mascara' to refer to sex and Fox's reply to the post has stoked this controversy.

However, several Twitter users have come forward in support of Fox, believing that she did not understand the euphemism. Internet believes that Fox genuinely thought that that TikTok user was talking about 'mascara.' However, since the controversy, Fox has been reportedly deleting comments that asked her to address her statement, according to Evening Standard.

Why was Julia Fox accused of condoning sexual assault?

A tweet alleged that Fox condoned sexual assault, saying, "Julia Fox out there condoning sexual assault," along with a screenshot taken from TikTok. The screenshot read, "I gave this one girl mascara one time and it must've been so good that she decided that her and her friend should both try it without my consent." Further there were two comments, one of them allegedly from Fox, saying, "Idk why but I don't feel for u lol." The TikTok user replied to Fox's comment, questioning, "You don't feel bad that I was sexually assulted?"

The user tweeting the screenshot further added, "To make it clear, he's not talking about make-up. Mascara is a euphemism for sex," "He had #saawareness in his description of the video." The user further explained  what the word 'mascara' means on TikTok, "Mascara for the penis is not common on most platforms, but it is on TikTok because the word penis etc and the word sex is censored by TikTok including talking about SA. In order to get around it words like seggs for sex and now Mascara are trending," adding, "And to be honest, I bet if anyone of you had made an honest mistake of confusing the meaning (easily done) and made that comment you'd be quick to rectify it and clear it up, especially in a situation like this."

A user believed that the whole situation could be a misunderstanding."I’m gonna be real with you, I had to read this like 19 times to realize that’s what he was communicating and even now I’m confused about why “mascara” is the analogy used. Obviously she should apologize to him, but I think this could be a general/generational misunderstanding," wrote the user.

Another user defended Fox, saying that Fox "probably genuinely thought it was about mascara". "I think you’re reaching with this one. She probably genuinely thought it was about mascara," wrote the user. "Judging by the comments- no one knew or understands how mascara is a euphemism for SA. Think its safe to assume that Julia didn’t either since her comment has her sounding confused on how to feel or interpret it," added a user.

A user wrote, "She deleted the comment which confirms she didn't know the trend/didn't read the description." While another added, "You could apply that to genuinely any post you see on TikTok. If I see a post like "I saw a rabbit today", am I just to assume the word "rabbit" might've become a code word for something and I need to research it pronto before saying "I love rabbits!"?"

One user, however, questioned the people who defended Fox and wrote "Wonder if the people defending Julia would be so adamant if it was someone else who made this reply. I mean context clues is still a thing and ‘consent’ is present, soo…"
