LONDON, ENGLAND:  The family of Julia Wandelt, 21, claiming to be Madeleine McCann, who has been missing since May 3, 2007, is coming out with important revelations. Wandelt's family has recently objected to appearing for a DNA Test. However, they have now claimed that she is clearly not McCann. 

"It is obvious to us as a family that Julia is our daughter, granddaughter, sister, niece, cousin and stepdaughter," said the family in an official statement. They also claimed that they have Julia's birth certificate, several hospital discharge documents, as well as many pictures of her childhood. Meanwhile, Wandelt is also known as Julia Faustyna and Julia Wendell. She gained worldwide attention after she started posting on her Instagram page comparing herself to McCann who went missing when she was three while on holiday with her parents.

What are the claims of Julia Wandelt's family? 

The 21-year-old had claimed earlier that she cannot remember a lot from her childhood. This is because she was a victim of severe sexual abuse by a German pedophile and was diagnosed with post-traumatic amnesia. However, her family now claims, "Numerous therapies, medications, psychologists and psychiatrists were provided for Julia. She was not left alone. She refuses treatment, does not take medication regularly. She also did not take advantage of the possibility of treatment at a very good centre in Poland, which agreed to accept her," as per Yahoo News. They also stated their assumptions regarding why the 21-year-old decided to share her beliefs on a public platform. They said, "she always wanted to be popular, Julia once wanted to be a singer, a model. We are devastated by the current situation," they said. The family hesitated to give their pictures or interview as Polish police are currently investigating the case.

According to unconfirmed reports, Dr Fia Johansson, who is a private detective in the case claims, "We want to be very respectful to the McCann family, and respect the privacy of them and their kids while we don't know exactly who Julia is.
