'I'm doing good': Jay Leno opens up about recovery after near-fatal car fire and motorcycle accident
BURBANK, CALIFORNIA: Jay Leno, who suffered two major blows when his car caught fire in November 2022 and a motorcycle accident in January 2023, is currently doing well. "I'm doing good! I'm doing good," the 73-year-old said at a kickoff event on Saturday, May 20, which was held ahead of the premiere of 'Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge'.
Leno who broke his collarbone, and two ribs, cracked both his kneecaps in a bike crash and suffered third-degree burns in the garage explosion now appeared energetic during his talk with Page Six and is currently "recovering." His recovery is reportedly speeding up as he has stopped doing physical therapy.

'Nobody really cares how you feel'
Talking about his way of maintaining to be positive in his outlook, the former 'Tonight Show' credited his privilege. "It’s fine! I’m fine. Look, when you’re in my position, when you’re any kind of celebrity, you’re luckier than most people," Leno said.
"So when something bad happens to you, you can’t whine and complain about it because bad things happen to people every day — either they get burned or they get cut — and they don’t have the financial wherewithal I did," the comedian told the media outlet before adding "So I just make jokes. People love to see rich people catch on fire. Plus, it’s Hollywood. As long as you look OK, you’re OK. Nobody really cares how you feel," he added.
'Some days you’re popular; some days you’re not'
The television host said that "show business is fleeting," and that's why he has learned to live in the moment. "You enjoy it while you can, and it’s fun. Some days you’re popular; some days you’re not," the former 'Jay Leno's Garage' host told the media outlet.
Leno further said that despite his health issues he still enjoys his taking his motorcycle out for spins and also keeping up his massive collection of antique and new vehicles. He also added that his wife Mavis Leno has been supportive throughout. The automotive historian jokingly said, "As long as it’s not cocaine and girlfriends, she’s fine — believe me."
Leno who is known for his interest in cars and his in-depth knowledge about them is set to appear as a celebrity guest judge for NBC's 'Hot Wheels: Ultimate Challenge'.
