Meghan Markle and Harry's tell-all on CBS would 'not have run' if Prince Philip's health worsened: Gayle King
Prince Philip’s health condition was a concern around the time that CBS aired Harry and Meghan Markle's bombshell interview. The latest reports reveal that its airing would have been postponed altogether if his health had taken a turn for the worse.
Gayle King, a presenter on CBS, who is also Meghan and Oprah Winfrey's friend, has now confirmed that network bosses had been monitoring the health of Harry's grandfather in the run-up to the explosive interview. "They had done that interview before Prince Philip went into hospital and if something, God forbid, had happened to him, the interview would not have run at this particular time," King said. "But the interview was done and was scheduled before he went into the hospital." She had made these revelations during the March 11 episode of her SiriusXM show 'Gayle King in the House'.

Longest stint in hospital
After his longest ever stint in the hospital - 28 nights - 99-year-old Prince Philip returned home at Windsor in "good spirits" on Tuesday, March 16, 2021. On February 16, he was admitted to King Edward VII’s Hospital in London what Buckingham Palace described as a "precautionary measure" after feeling unwell and went on to have treatment for an infection before his heart surgery two weeks ago.
The Duke of Edinburgh's hospitalization was not Covid-related, a royal source had reportedly confirmed. It has also been reported that Queen Elizabeth and Prince Philip had both received Covid-19 vaccinations earlier this year. The couple had celebrated their 73rd wedding anniversary in November.
Back to the Meghan Markle show
Back to the matter of Meghan, King claimed on her radio show that the duchess had been "vilified" and that people had "repeatedly" lied about her. She also described how it was "very, very difficult" for Meghan and Harry to speak out against the royal family.
"I've met them on several occasions and spent time with her and Harry. This was very, very difficult for them to do. Very difficult," she said, adding, "You’re talking about your family, but I think they really wanted people to understand, it had to be really bad for you to leave your country - in Harry’s case, leave your family. Meghan went there with full intentions of this was going to be her life and she looked forward to that. But when people repeatedly lie when you are totally vilified and you are not protected even though you are told you will be protected. And then you’re told you can’t speak up on your own behalf - that’s just nuts." King, who went to Meghan’s 2019 baby shower in New York, continued, "Harry and Meghan both have been through so much for the past three years and they really have tried to work it out privately. They really have tried to get help and nothing was working."
Kate Middleton was also a subject of discussion on the show. When speaking to a caller, King stuck by Meghan's side, saying, "Well I think part of the problem, as Meghan explained, she was vilified for making Kate cry when really the opposite was true. So how would you feel if you had been blamed for something?"
