'I don't have any updates': Rihanna opens up about releasing new music after pregnancy announcement
GLENDALE, ARIZONA: Rihanna shocked the world by revealing that she is pregnant for the second time with her rapper partner A$AP Rocky during her Super Bowl halftime show. However, her loyal fans were hoping for a surprise album announcement instead. While the admirers of the 'Work' singer cheered for her at the time, many were still hoping to hear an update on when she would be releasing new music. Thus, when the pop sensation sat down for an interview after her internet-breaking performance, she addressed the possibility of putting out new songs.
Speaking to Good Morning America's Michael Strahan ahead of her halftime show on Sunday, February 12, Rihanna, who has released just one new track in the last six-and-a-half years, opened up about the significant pressure from her fans to release a new album. "[The fans want] more," she admitted to Strahan. "They are waiting. I'm excited to actually put new music out but I don't have any updates for you on that yet," the 'Diamonds' hitmaker summed up. Rihanna has released no songs for nearly a decade except for the hit ballad 'Lift Me Up' she created for the Black Panther: Wakanda Forever soundtrack. The song earned an Oscar nomination which led to speculation that the Grammy award winner was finally set to return to the music industry. However, it appears that she will be taking another hiatus.
