'I couldn't unhear it!' Chris Pine reveals he cut his hair after being compared to 'FRIENDS' star
LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: Chris Pine, who is busy promoting his 'Dungeons & Dragons: Honor Among Thieves', recently revealed in an interview the hilarious reason behind choosing to chop his long hair off. Pine, 42, revealed his publicist didn’t take his long-haired look kindly and compared him to the FRIENDS character, Rachel Green, played by Jennifer Aniston.
The ‘Star Trek’ alum grew his blonde hair with hints of chestnut brown last year and debuted his new look while promoting 'Don’t Worry Darling' at the Venice Film Festival.

“I thought I was looking pretty, pretty fly, the hair was long, everything was happening, and my publicist said I looked like Rachel from Friends,” he revealed in a talk show with Esquire. He added, “I couldn’t unhear it,” before continuing, “And it was the first day and my first time in Venice…”.
Talking about his trip to Italy, he further said, "It was a long flight to f*****g Italy. I was so jetlagged and then you get thrown into a press conference where you get to talk about a film you made five and a half years ago. I was just tired, frankly."
Why Rachel Green?
Rachel Green, one of the six protagonists in the famous sitcom FRIENDS got global recognition for her stylish sartorial choices and fashionable hairstyles. After the series gained popularity, a particular haircut called ‘Layered Choppy Bob’ got rechristened as ‘The Rachel Green Haircut’ and it featured voluminous choppy layers. Pine, with his dark blonde hair totally matched Aniston’s hair color.
‘Harry did not spit on me’
It was the same Venice Film Festival that started the infamous ‘Spit Gate’ incident. It went viral when Harry Styles appeared to spit on his co-star in the movie 'Don't Worry, Darling' as they were seated next to each other at the screening. The ‘Jack Ryan’ actor, who was applauding as Styles was sitting down in his designated seat next to him, appeared to pause mid-interaction, glance at his leg, and stick out his tongue in shock. The pop star was too occupied adjusting his jacket and beaming around the room to notice the bemused actor’s cheeky response.
In the same interview with Esquire, however, Pine cleared the air by saying that “Harry did not spit on me,” and added, “Harry’s very very kind guy.” Trying to logically define the incident, he further added, “I think what he said, is he leaned down, and I think he said, 'It's just words, isn't it?' as we had this little joke because we're all jetlagged, we're all trying to answer these questions, and sometimes when you're doing these press things, your brain goes all befuddled, you know, you start speaking gibberish, and we had a joke like, 'It's just words, man'."
