'How to Train Your Dragon Homecoming': Release date, plot, cast, trailer and everything you need to know about NBC's Holiday Special

When it becomes clear that the new generation of Vikings doesn’t remember the bond between dragons and humans, Hiccup makes a plan to celebrate dragons with a grand holiday pageant.

Mark your calendars, because it looks like we are going on a holiday to the Isle of Berk with Astrid, Hiccup and Toothless. 'How to Train Your Dragon Homecoming' is here with a holiday special 30-minute movie. Set 10 years later, it is definitely going to warm your souls for Christmas!

Release date

The film is all set to release on December 3, 2019.

Plot

The last installment of the film trilogy saw the emotional epilogue and 10 years after the end of 'How to Train Your Dragon: The Hidden World',  'How to Train Your Dragon Homecoming' opens with Hiccup and Toothless sharing stories of their special relationship with their respective families as they prepare for the Snoggletog Festival.
 
When it becomes clear that the new generation of Vikings doesn’t remember the bond between dragons and humans, Hiccup makes a plan to celebrate dragons with a grand holiday pageant. This heartwarming idea leads to a series of amusing and exciting events. But no matter the circumstance, everyone in New Berk, young and old alike,  is reminded that dragons and humans are forever bonded.

The Scottish actor voiced Hiccup’s father Stoick the Vast in 'How to Train Your Dragon', the animated shorts 'Legend of the Boneknapper Dragon' and 'Gift of the Night Fury', as well as the two sequels. The Scottish hunk has charmed audiences in films like 'Reign of Fire', 'Lara Craft Tomb Raider: The Cradle of Life', 'The Phantom of the Opera', 'Timeline', 'P.S I Love You', 'The Ugly Truth' and more

Craig Ferguson and Christopher Mintz-Plasse also star as Gobber and Fishlegs respectively.

Jonathan is a screenplay writer and he has previously worked on TV shows like 'How I Met Your Mother', 'Late Night With Conan O'Brien', 'Black-ish' and 'The Jake Effect'. He has co-written this holiday exclusive film alongside Jon Pollack. 

Where to watch

Tune in to NBC channel on November 3 at 8:30 pm local time. It will also be available on DVD December 3, and on Digital December 4. Both the Digital and DVD versions are packed with special bonus features, including an inside look at the animation test featuring the breakout stars of the holiday special, the baby dragons known as Night Lights. Homecoming will be available to stream on Hulu December 5 for the whole family to enjoy all holiday season.
