How much does Tommy Fury earn from a fight? Jake Paul accuses KSI of underpaying boxing legend: 'It's bizarre'
CLEVELAND, OHIO: According to Jake Paul, Tommy Fury will receive $1.5 million for his bout against KSI in October, which is rumored to be in Manchester's AO Arena. In February, the American YouTuber encountered Fury in Saudi Arabia.
As a result of the enormous payments provided in the Middle East compared to market value, the two earned substantially more money for their efforts. But the 24-year-old, who appears to have traded his aspirations for a world title for a move into the influencer boxing scene, will take home yet another hefty payday.
'It's bizarre'
Despite being knocked down in the eighth round, Fury won the fight in the eyes of the majority of the audience and won a split decision against Paul. Despite having a rematch clause, it is anticipated that they will each fight before meeting early in the next year.
The American revealed the contents of his bag when he was speaking on his podcast 'BS with Jake Paul', “KSI is offering you like $1.5m which is way underpaid for Tommy, especially coming off that win, Tommy should be making $5-6m and it's crazy and bizarre to me that Tommy is even entertaining that.”
He added, “But whatever he wants to do that's why I put out the offer like 'yeah let's run it in October' which is when that fight's going to be anyways. I'm ready, Tommy knows it's a bigger fight and bigger payday." However, KSI's promoter Mams Taylor has refuted Paul's purse claim, writing in an Instagram comment, "Absolute nonsense! This kid is so sour.”
‘KSI is kind of bulls****ing him’
Fury's salary for the fight in Saudi Arabia, which was by far his highest payout to date, is said to have been around double the publicly disclosed amount. But because Saudi Arabia wants to become one of the newest boxing hotspots, contests there often feature fighters earning far more than expected.
Although contracts have not yet been signed, KSI and Fury have agreed to terms for a bout that will probably take place in Manchester in October. The YouTube sensation is anticipated to increase his weight to 185 lbs in order to accommodate Fury, who has reportedly given up on ever becoming a light-heavyweight.
“I obviously always wanted to do the rematch. But it seems like KSI is kind of bulls****ing him and doesn't want to make the whole entire weight situation work out. KSI loves to weight drain people as much as possible, I don't know if the fight's actually going to go through,” Paul added.
