LOS ANGELES, CALIFORNIA: George P Wilbur, a legendary stuntman and actor, passed away at age 81 on February 1. Wilbur, a seasoned stuntman with four decades in the field and inducted into the Hollywood Stuntmen's Hall of Fame, is most known for his work in the Halloween franchise, where he played the masked killer Michael Myers in two consecutive films: ‘Halloween 4’ and ‘Halloween: The Curse of Michael Myers.’ Christopher Durand, who plays Michael Myers in 'Halloween H20' broke the news on Facebook writing, "George P Wilbur passed away last night. George, you were a class act and well-loved. You will be missed. May you Rest in Peace." Durand didn't share the circumstances around George’s death, but he reportedly died in the evening hours of February 1.

George P Wilbur's illustrious career spans six decades and nearly every genre of film imaginable. His achievements in the film industry won him a well-deserved place in the Hollywood Stuntmen's Hall of Fame. Wilbur began his career as an extra and stunt double, filling in for John Wayne early in his career. He would go on to perform in over 100 films and television shows, doing stunt work and occasionally appearing on-screen. Wilbur appeared in movies such as ‘Escape from the Planet of the Apes,’ ‘Pennies from Heaven,’ ‘Firestarter,’ ‘The Running Man,’ ‘Ghostbusters II,’ and ‘American Muscle.’ He's also been on shows including ‘Mission: Impossible,’ ‘The Six Million Dollar Man,’ ‘Magnum, P.I.,’ and ‘Days of Our Lives.’

As expected several Wilbur fans came out of Twitter and paid condolences to the beloved stuntman. One person wrote, “RIP to one of my favorite Michael Myers actors of all time, George P. Wilbur. One of the first horror stars I ever met was George back at the original Spooky World in 97’. A class act and a true legend.” “With a heavy heart, we say goodbye to one of the greatest actors to ever don the Michael Myers mask, Mr George P. Wilbur. A gentle giant of a man, George was much beloved by his fans, friends, and colleagues. Thank you for the memories, sir. Godspeed. Rest in Peace,” Halloween movies wrote from their Twitter account. 



 

Someone wrote, “The Curse of Michael Myers was the first Halloween I saw on the big screen. That's always been Michael Myers for me. He was genuinely terrifying, and will forever be my absolute favorite sequel in the series. George P. Wilbur will be missed.” “RIP George P. Wilbur who gave us some of the best Michael Myers memories of the franchise and what seemed like a super sweet guy by all accounts,” yet another user remarked.
