NEW YORK CITY, NEW YORK: Dino Danelli, the drummer for 60s hitmakers’ The Rascals, is no more. The death of the 78-year-old, who died on December 15, was announced on the band's official Facebook page. However, his cause of death has not been revealed yet.

The statement made by Joe Russo, who was described as Danelli’s representative, read, "Our beloved Dino passed away today. I will say more in the near future about his incredible talent and share experiences from his life he relayed to me, as well as ones we spent as friends and collaborators. I hope you will all continue to appreciate his talent and send him your love. Thank you for supporting his various endeavors throughout his career. You all made it possible for him to live his dream, which was to be a musician and artist." Following this, the band's former guitarist Gene Cornish also updated the fans by saying, "It is with a broken heart that I must tell you of the passing of Dino Danelli. He was my brother and the greatest drummer I’ve ever seen. I am devastated at this moment. Rest In Peace Dino I love you brother."

Following the news, tributes started pouring in for the artist, who was born in Jersey City to an Italian family in 1944. One wrote, "RIP Dino Danelli at age 78 ... one of the greatest drummers of the rock 'n roll era with one of the greatest bands." Another wrote, "I’m so sad to hear the great Dino Danelli has passed away. A brilliant drummer and artist. I’ll never forget all the happy moments we spent on Broadway during the run of our Rascals show. An original Disciple. An original, period."

Coveying the condolence, a user wrote "Dino Danelli was such a phenomenal drummer. RIP." Another said, "#RIP the most magnetic Dino Danelli."
