'Hospital Playlist' Episode 8 begins on a sad note. Ahn Jeong-won (Yoo Yeon-seok) for the first time rejected someone's request to treat them for lunch. He had always accepted the other female doctors' and nurses' requests despite knowing that they were hitting on him. However, he rejects Dr Gyeo-wool (Shin Hyun-Bin). First, he tells her that they should go out for food along with others but when she says she wants to go with him alone, he refuses by saying that he has an appointment with his mother over the weekend and so will be unable to go out with her.

It also turns out that Jeong-won lied to Gyeo-wool about having to be with his mother over the weekend. She learns about it when her senior surgeon Lee Ik-jun tells her that Jeong-won was over at his place during the weekend playing with his son U-jin. For Gyeo-wool, who had been harboring a secret crush for Jeong-won for the longest time, this seems to be the time to draw a line. She says so to Ik-jun as well, that now is the time for her to give up on her hope of pursuing Jeong-won and that she should sort out her feelings for him once and for all.

In fact, she takes it in her stride and even lets her friend and fellow resident Min-ha set her up on a date. Towards the end of the episode, Gyeo-wool also proves she is going to move on from Jeong-won's rejection by getting into the car of another man. Interestingly, this seems to affect Jeong-won. He looks lost and confused on seeing the man Gyeo-wool is going out with. Did Jeong-won reject Gyeo-wool because he was afraid of developing feelings for her and which in turn would stop him from pursuing priesthood?

Meanwhile, Yeong Seok-hyeon (Kim Dae-myung) ends up having a difficult time dealing with a conflict between the residents. One of them is trying to use the other resident Min-ha, who responsibly does her job. Seok-hyeon is aware of the situation but is unable to do anything for the responsible doctor, except to get her tteokbokki.

This situation only gets sorted when Min-ha ends up trying to treat a patient who suffers from an emergency placenta abruption without Seok-hyeon present. Her dedication pushes Seok-hyeon to finally tell her the truth about how he sees her suffering because of an irresponsible doctor and that he has taken note of it. This calms Min-ha down and she also ends up reconsidering the resignation that she was about to send in to Seok-hyeon because all this while, she had assumed that her senior doctor did not understand her struggle.

The episode, however, ends on a shocking note for Seok-hyeon because his mother is brought to the hospital after a medical emergency. How is he going to face this crisis?

'Hospital Playlist' news episodes can be streamed on Netflix on Thursdays.
