'Home Alone' star Devin Ratray under investigation for allegedly drugging and raping woman
MANHATTAN, NEW YORK: 'Home Alone' actor Devin Ratray has entangled with the law once again as he is now under investigation for allegedly drugging and raping a woman at his Manhattan apartment five years ago. The victim reportedly filed a complaint at the time of the incident but claims that the police never persuaded it. The actor is already facing domestic violence charges after his then-girlfriend claimed that he strangled and punched her.
Devin Ratray was dragged into the spotlight once again when a woman named Lisa Smith, after hearing about the assault case with Ratray's girlfriend, contacted the prosecutors about a police report that she had filed back in 2017 accusing Ratray of raping her. As per CNN, Smith wanted to know why her case wasn't persuaded and claimed that the officials believed that she wanted to remain anonymous and didn't want to press charges. Hence, she was told that the case was closed. Smith later contacted CNN as well explaining that she was devastated about the fact that no action was taken against the 45-year-old actor.

Smith shared e-mails that proved that she wanted to take further action against Ratray like traveling from out of state to be interviewed by investigators at the Manhattan District Attorney's Office and even providing them with the garment from the night of the assault to help with the DNA testing. New York Police has declined questions from the news outlet but a spokesperson has claimed that the officials are in touch with Smith. As for Ratray, he had denied the allegations. While he recalled the meeting, he claimed that there was no physical angle between them saying, "We did not have sex."
Lisa Smith describes the night
Smith tells CNN that she had known Ratray for almost 15 years before the assault and that she had met with her brother, another friend, and Ratray at a bar in New York City. They went to Ratray's apartment for more drinks after that. While the actor poured drinks for everyone, he seemed intent on giving Smith a specific glass. Soon enough, Smith claimed that she felt exhausted and Ratray persuaded her to sleep on the couch. This is when she believes she was drugged. Smith said, "I remember waking up and I couldn't move. I couldn't really open my eyes, but I could hear what was happening and I could feel what was happening. I knew that the other two people were gone and I was still on the couch."
She explained that the assault went on for what felt like an "eternity." Then around 2 pm the next day she fled the apartment as soon as she regained consciousness. On the police skipping the investigation, Smith said, "Why would I have met with the DA in the first place, years ago, if I wasn't willing to press charges?... This was all very upsetting to me." She explained why she chose to come forward after he got arrested for the assault case. Smith said, "Seeing that he was accused of assaulting someone else made me realize that I needed to do whatever I could to prevent him from hurting even more women." In association with the assault case, Ratray was released from custody after posting a $25,000 bond and is set to appear in court in October.
