Are you as excited about the two special episodes of 'Euphoria' that will air over the holidays as we are? In case you were fuzzy on the details, HBO Max announced a short while ago that they are pulling up the initial December 6 premiere date and airing the special 'bridge episodes' this Thursday, December 3.

Euphoria's star and Emmy award winner Zendaya was first to spill the news about the two-part special via Instagram in October, which was followed by an official confirmation by HBO. Since then Zendaya has uploaded two posters for the episodes in question and the dates have changed with the episodes coming in three days early. Here is all you need to know about the special episodes that will act as a link between Season 1 that aired in 2019 and Season 2 that is scheduled to air in 2021.

The first of the two episodes, titled 'Part 1: Rue' will be available to stream starting this Thursday, December 3 at 9 pm PT only on HBO Max. The last we saw of Zendaya's Rue was her being left behind by Hunter Schafer's Jules at the train platform and her relapsing. The first special episode follows Rue as she celebrates Christmas. Written and directed by series creator Sam Levinson, the episode will also star Colman Domingo, who appeared in Season 1. The special episodes have been produced under the new Covid-19 guidelines and will give us a taste of how HBO plans to produce new content during the pandemic.

The title and date of the second episode are still to be revealed. However, the posters Zendaya posted gives us some clues. Both posters have the words "Part 1: Rue" and suggest that Episode 1 will be Zendaya-centric. Christmas time is always a stressful time even if you don't have a drug problem or aren't nursing a broken heart and the poster shows Rue in her bed having one of her episodes of deep depression.

But what of Part 2 or the second special episode? The appearance of Jules in the second, more hopeful poster that shows both girls smiling and chilling on a bed suggests a happy denouement. The second episode could be about Jules (as in 'Part 2: Jules') and how she handles Christmas without Rue. Hopefully, fingers crossed, by the end of the second special episode, we will see these two unite again.

Giving credence to this theory is the photograph released by HBO that depicts Rue reflected in someone's blue iris; this suspiciously feels like Jules is looking at Rue.

If the two do find their way to each other over the holidays, this will definitely mean we will start Season 2 off on a more hopeful note. Given the year we've had, we can only hope that 'Euphoria's two-part special will leave us with happy tidings rather than on a somber note. In the meantime, if you want to get into the 'Euphoria' mood, watch the official 'Euphoria' music video for 'Still Don’t Know My Name' by Labrinth.

'Euphoria' Special Episode Part 1 will air on Sunday, December 6, at 9 pm ET/PT on HBO. The episode will premiere early on HBO Max on Thursday, December 3 at 9 pm PT.
