‘Harry Potter’ star Tom Felton charges fans $250 for personalized shout-outs despite $34M net worth
Tom Felton is still milking the name that he made for himself by portraying the character of Draco Malfoy in the 'Harry Potter' franchise as he is reportedly charging his fans £200 ($248) for personal shout-out videos.
According to Daily Mail, the actor is selling personalized video messages on Cameo despite having an estimated net worth of £28 million ($34 million). He has a 4.9-star review on the platform. But apparently, the fact that Felton is charging for personal shoutouts has not outraged his fanbase as most people don't seem to mind paying for his videos.
One fan wrote: "Tom, your video was absolutely perfect for Chloe. It brought such a smile to her face when she saw her favorite Slytherin pop up onscreen. It’s something she’ll treasure for a long time."
Another added: "Thank you thank you THANK YOU!!! The Wizarding World is our daughter’s escape from her struggles with Asperger’s and social anxiety. You will never know what it means to us as parents to have someone like you take the time to do this for her. Truly, thank you from not just the bottom of my heart, but from my whole heart. I just may have to rethink my stance on Draco Malfoy. Just kidding. You are SO AWESOME!!!"
The report that he was selling videos with personal messages came after the actor delighted fans by posting a shirtless black-and-white bedroom photo on his Instagram page last week. In the snapshot, he was seen hiding his face behind an age-old camera while putting his toned torso on display. Fans soon took to the comments section to shower the actor with compliments.
"How dare u look this good! Could u please not make my expectations for any boys this high," wrote one fan, while another wrote, "Is it just me? Or the temperature just got hotter and hotter."
Someone else demanded: "Stop making people attracted to Draco Malfoy!"
Felton also made it clear that he was not over his 'Harry Potter' role by posing alongside a promo shot from the first installment of the franchise, taken 18 years ago, where a younger version of him was seen wearing Slytherin robes with his signature smug smile. "Ageing is a b***h," Felton wrote as he lamented getting older.
Last year, Felton's co-star, Rupert Grint (Ron Wesley) created quite a stir when he said in an interview with Entertainment Tonight that despite the former playing a villain on the franchise, there was a "spark" between Felton and Emma Watson, who played Hermione Granger in the movies.
"There was always something. There was a little bit of a spark. But we were kids. It was like any kind of playground romance," he said.
Watson also previously admitted to Seventeen in 2011 that she had a crush on her former co-star. "For the first two movies, I had a huge crush on Tom Felton. He was my first crush. He totally knows. We talked about it – we still laugh about it. We are really good friends now, and that's cool," she said.
Felton further fueled Grint's comment and led people to speculate that he might be dating Watson by posting a picture of him hanging out with her in a seemingly intimate setting, earlier this month. It showed him helping Watson find her way around an acoustic guitar. He captioned it, "Quick learner x."
Before this most recent reunion, Watson and Felton had hung out with each other in southern California. She even uploaded a brief video of them skateboarding along the boardwalk together.
