Grey's Anatomy' Season 16: Every employee needs to take inspiration from Jo's job offer negotiation at Grey-Sloan

With the summary of the second episode, it was quite clear that Jo might have to face some new challenges before she gets back to work after a long break.

The first episode of 'Grey's Anatomy' saw Jo Wilson Karev (Camilla Luddington) gradually recover from her mental illness and depression. Her husband, Alex Karev, (Justin Chambers) got down on his knees and asked her to come back. "I want you to be my wife."

The summary of the second episode read, "Richard and Alex uneasily start anew. Meanwhile, Jo readies herself to return to work." It was quite clear that Jo might have to face some new challenges before she gets back to work after a long break. In the new episode titled 'Back in the Saddle', Jo and Alex share a hearty conversation before heading out to work. Alex is all set for his new role at Pacific Northwest General and he reassures Jo, "You can always come to work with me."

When she replies how she has been advised to start the same schedule to get back on track, he jokes if that was just an excuse to not work at Pac North! When Jo turns up at Grey-Sloan, Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) is surprised as she thought Jo would join Karev's new endeavor. Giving her the exact same offer of a trainee, she asks her to take the day and think about it.

While Jo is initially confused about the offer, she calls Alex who then tells her he could offer her the role of General Surgeon Attending at Pac North. Towards the end of the episode, Jo makes a new strategy. She goes to Bailey and politely asks her, "Can you talk. Is this a good time?" to which Bailey sarcastically retorts back, "I don't have good times anymore. Tell me."

"I have taken the day and made my decision," Jo begins. "I want to be the General Surgeon Attending." Confused, Bailey looks at her and tells her, "I don't recall giving you that option."

"Not here," Jo says. "So you're going to Pac North?" Bailey quizzes her. That's when Jo makes a clever move and says, "That's up to you. They've given me a tempting offer. They think I am ready. I have trained under the best people here. I know the place works. I know how you work. And I am ready. I will be an asset to any hospital. The question is: Do you want that hospital to be yours?"

Taken aback, Bailey is at a loss of words as she has already lost some of her best surgeons. With a hint of acceptance, she quietly tells her to come to her office to talk. Later, when Jo tells Alex about the episode, he takes it lightheartedly how his wife actually used his offer to get one at Grey Sloan Hospital for better facilities and environment. Alex has definitely lent her endless support at every moment in life and that shows yet again how he is the perfect man to be with

Well, it is a smart move and every employee would be motivated to try something similar in their workplace. Don't you think so? As the third episode airs on Thursday, October 10 on ABC, it is to be seen how lucrative the job is for Jo!
