Why 'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 will be infinitely better without Teddy and Owen's nauseatingly toxic romance

Hip hip hurray for hardcore 'Grey's Anatomy' fans, as Season 17 will be back in a month. Going by the teaser, we have a lot to be excited and nervous about. We got to see glimpses of Andrew DeLuca and Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo), as their relationship is still hanging by a thread. And we see Teddy( Kim Raver) professing her love for Owen Hunt (Kevin McKidd). However, the drama that occupied the latter half of 'Grey's Anatomy' was the Teddy-Owen-Tom congealed mess, which a majority of the fans were rather bored with.

At first, it seemed as if Owen had stepped out of the maddening cesspool that was him and Amelia Shepherd (Caterina Scorsone). He had decided to move on with his close friend Teddy and proposed to her. Everything looked like sunshine and roses for a while, there was a wedding to be planned. Yet, a tiny and nagging doubt began to surface in Teddy's mind. What if the father of Amelia's baby was not Link, but Owen? So Teddy decided to take up the only sensible option available to her: Go sleep with her ex-boyfriend, Tom Koracick, because what else can you do in a tricky situation like this? They slept together several times, till Owen made it clear to Teddy that he loved only her and gave her much-needed assurances. Amelia's baby-daddy wasn't Owen, but Link, as the DNA test proved. Well, Teddy had already tasted blood by then and seemed unsure of where she wanted to go. Her goodbye sex with Tom was heard on voicemail by Owen, and he was...well, least pleased to hear it and stood her up at their wedding. Some gall of Teddy to show up for her wedding, after almost planning to run away with Tom.

Teddy and Owen have never been a mesmerizing couple, far less enticing than him and Amelia. Of course, the woman for Owen was always Cristina Yang (Sanda Oh), but she's gone and not coming back despite the million requests.  Also, it would be GREAT if Season 17 had some personality development for Owen, who had more charisma, presence back in the early days of Grey's, rather than just someone bumbling around in love triangles. He was a trauma surgeon, with layers to him---a man recovering from the scars of his past. That is what made his relationship with Cristina so powerful, they were two people trying to be free of their own fears. But for the past few seasons, Owen has just been thrown from one woman to the other.

And please no, not Teddy for him. There's no chemistry and that relationship has gone from bland to nauseatingly toxic. Get Teddy back with Tom, if you must.

'Grey's Anatomy' Season 17 returns on November 12, ABC, at 9 pm.
