‘Grey's Anatomy’ has sprung a sweet surprise with Derek Shepherd's (Patrick Dempsey) return. In the second episode itself, as part of the premiere, Meredith Grey (Ellen Pompeo) was diagnosed with Covid-19 and she was found unconscious in the parking lot of Grey-Sloane memorial.

She saw Derek on a beach in her dreams, but they're far away from each other. Is there a chance of a hug and kiss? "I hate you," she screams out to him and runs towards him but cannot reach. "I'll be right here when you are ready," Derek tells her. With Meredith's condition, many fans are also wondering if she will survive the Covid-19 scare. However, fans will have to wait for another week during Thanksgiving to wait and see what happens.

"God I've missed this. Their dynamic, the chemistry, the way they really are the epic love story. I'm in tears at the soft reassurance that he will be waiting for her. Now it's Derek's turn to stay there, don't move, and will wait for her..." one fan said. Many others are sad that they'll have to wait for two weeks. "How are we supposed to wait another 2 weeks??" one posted and another wrote, "@EllenPompeo How can we wait for 2 weeks now?" A third said, "Ok so you tryna tell me that another person will come back?! and I need to wait 2 weeks for that?! No way."

While many fans can't wait for them to hug... If Meredith does get close to him, won't it mean that she is dead too? For the time being, it is better to just stay far apart from him but only time will tell if there is another way for them to get close and for Meredith to still be back in real life.

Last week, when Meredith spotted Derek, she calls his name with a hint of surprise, “Derek...” The scene then shifted to Meredith in the emergency room as Miranda Bailey (Chandra Wilson) told her: “God forbid, this gets any worse.” Meredith then says, “If I fall asleep, I'm afraid I might not wake up.” The next scene shows how doctors call out her name, “Mer? Mer?! Hey?!” Will she go into a coma or will she survive? Titled 'You'll Never Walk Alone', the summary of the next episode reads: "Owen faces a medical diagnosis that challenges more than he imagined; Koracick begins to go stir crazy; Maggie gets a not-so-subtle glimpse into Winston's background."

The next episode of ‘Grey's Anatomy’ Season 17 will air on December 3, 2020, from 9 pm to 10 pm ET on ABC.
