What is Good Pillow? Inside Parkland survivor David Hogg's 'pillow fight' with MyPillow CEO Mike Lindell
David Hogg, 20, a Parkland shooting survivor and also the co-founder for 'March for Our Lives' has created a pillow company to compete with MyPillow, a company by Mike Lindell, a well known Donald Trump supporter. The Washington Post revealed that the idea was first treated as a "joke" when William LeGate, a software developer and also Hogg's partner first tweeted it, but now it's become "increasingly firm".
On Tuesday night, February 9, the duo announced the name of the company — it's called Good Pillow and it's now trending heavily on Twitter.

What is Good Pillow?
As per the publication, in an interview, Hogg said that they are in a "really weird timeline" adding, "We’re in a global pandemic, I’m in college online because of that, and I’m starting a pillow company as my second start-up all before I can even legally drink." The company has to be funded though, and who better than the person who first thought of it? Yes, LeGate, 26, is reportedly funding the "venture". How? LeGate said, "I’m converting my bitcoin to pillows. It’s either going to be the dumbest thing I’ve ever done or the smartest thing, so we’ll see.” According to the publication, LeGate has committed $100,000 and he even stepped down as CEO of PredIQt on Monday, February 8.
Will Hogg run his company like Lindell's? Apparently, not. "We’re not like Mike. We don’t need an actual private jet like he has," said Hogg. While Lindell has a lot on his hands — being banned by Twiter, his product being dropped by the company Kohl’s, Bed Bath & Beyond and other retailers, and a potential lawsuit from Dominion Voting Systems — he has still managed to speak about Hogg's company. On February 9, Lindell said in a phone call according to The Washington Post, "Good for David Hogg trying to make a pillow. As long as he doesn’t infringe on people’s patents, good for him.”
As for the company, it isn't a joke anymore, that's for sure. It's an official commitment. The publication revealed that Hogg and LeGate are announcing their "name to a list of progressive promises, including employing unionized manufacturers and allocating a percentage of profits to charitable organizations chosen by their customers". The publication had also reviewed filings that revealed the duo had applied to "create a limited liability company in Delaware". Hogg also took to Twitter to announce members of an advisory board which includes Pulse Nightclub shooting survivor Brandon Wolf, civil rights activist Nadine Smith and Project Lincoln committee member David Weissman. Interestingly though, Legate and Hogg have only met once at the gun control legislation demonstration, March for Our Lives. As for what their product actually is, details are yet to be revealed by the pair.
I’m thrilled to announce the addition of Brandon Wolf ( @bjoewolf ) to the Pillow Company‘s activist advisory board.

Nadine has decades of experience in LGBTQ and racial justice advocacy & we look forward to working with them to create a pillow with a purpose :slightly_smiling_face:
Welcome Nadine !
Speaking about what's coming, LeGate said, "There’s a million different things to do, and a lot of people don’t think this is still a real thing even though it is. That just motivates us more to make this successful and show the world that you don’t need to treat your workers like crap in order to run a successful viable company.”
The announcement is a hit on Twitter
Hogg took to Twitter to tweet out information on the company's website writing, "We have announced the name of the company it's called #GoodPillow and you can sign up to be notified when preorder is available go to." The statement on the website reads, "Seven days ago they said it could not be done. Seven days ago we joked online about just how powerful a pillow company could be. To the believers - those who dared to imagine a pillow company could be about more than just pillows - thank you for turning our wildest dreams into reality. Rest assured, Good Pillow is well underway."
The website also showcases a "manifesto" where the pair wrote about where Good Pillow stands for now. "At present, Good Pillow is in the midst of negotiating and solidifying key details with our Board of Directors, manufacturing partners, employees, advisors, and an exciting influencer network with a combined reach of over 250 million people and counting," read a part of the statement.

They also decided to pay tribute due to the upcoming three year anniversary of the shooting in Parkland, Florida, on February 14, writing, "Before we launch, though, we must take some time to put our heads down, out of respect for the three year anniversary of the shooting in Parkland, Florida on February 14th. While we step back to honor those we lost on that horrific day, we remain fully committed to delivering on what we’ve promised. We couldn’t be more thrilled to share more important updates immediately following our blackout period.
The duo also has a Twitter page for the company called @GoodPillowCo and its bio reads, "Soft yet sturdy, loves to cuddle, likes watching movies while you fall asleep. Join waitlist on our website - 1st come, 1st served & limited quantity!" Apparently, the trend #GoodPillow isn't dying out anytime soon with Hogg recently tweeting, "Lets keep #GoodPillow at #1 non trending until Mike the Pillow Guy sees it !!! Oh wait."
According to Hogg's other tweets, it seems that they are off to a good start. "Over 8,000 Sign ups for #GoodPillow notifications for preorder availability ! Tweet #GoodPillow to help us get to #1 On trending," Hogg also tweeted. People have literally followed suit with re-tweets or new tweets with just the hashtag #GoodPillow. We're thinking Hogg and LeGate might have a winner with this one.
