Gun control activist David Hogg announced on Thursday that he would be launching his own pillow company to compete with Mike Lindell's MyPillow. Hogg, a survivor of the 2018 Marjory Stoneman Douglas High School shooting, plans on creating the company with William LeGate, a progressive tech entrepreneur to directly compete with MyPillow, a pro-Trump supporter who baselessly alleged that Trump won the 2020 Presidential elections.

It all started when LeGate tweeted, "What if we put MyPillow out of business @davidhogg111?" He continued, "We are considering airing a commercial on Fox News immediately following MyPillow ads… my ad buyer says it is unlikely they’ll let us do that, though, since Fox News relies on MyPillow & if MyPillow goes under, it could also really hurt Fox News."

Hogg retweeted LeGate and wrote, "If we do let's offer to hire the factory workers they got families."

Hogg later continued tweeting his plans for the pillow company, writing, ".@williamlegate and I can and will run a better business and make a better product all with more happy staff than Mike the pillow guy while creating US-based Union jobs and helping people. This pillow fight is just getting started."

He later tweeted, "k so hear me out this is AN IDEA NOT FOR SURE yet but What if We have @IATSE assemble the pillows with unemployed Theatrical Stage Employees that lost their job due to covid[.] @UFWupdates connects us with unionized, ethical and sustainable sourcing." He also wrote, "I have like half the most powerful unions in the country in my dm s right now trying to help us on source material and assembly. This is awesome."

Hogg also told interested followers that they could expect the pillow in six months, writing, "In about 6 months- we would like to do it sooner but we have strict guidelines on sustainability and US based Union producers." He also tweeted "Hey everyone just wanted to let you know we want to get the pillow out as quickly as possible but we are not going to sacrifice quality for time. It’s also surprisingly hard to find a unionized manufacturer of pillows in the US but we will keep looking. Just will take time."

Of course, it was not long before social media started trolling Hogg. One user replied to Hogg's tweet with an image of Hogg's face photoshopped onto a man holding what appears to be a penis-shaped pillow in colors of the rainbow, with the text, "MyPillow Biter."

Hogg, however, took it in stride, retweeting the image, writing, "Anybody interested in a Pride Limited edition pillow ? If we sold this pillow we could give all of the profits from it’s sale to LGBTQ orgs and Sex Ed these trolls are awesome they’re free advertising and they have great ideas keep them coming guys." He also wrote, "Unlike most corporations this wouldn’t be some performative bullshit we could include education materials on safe sex and such too from a qualified source with not just some of the profits but ALL of the profits from the sale of this pillow going to sex Ed and lgbtq orgs."

He also tweeted in response to the image, "Lmao we should sell that pillow as an adult novelty thanks for the idea and free advertising. keep trolling you’ll make us more money."

LeGate also confirmed that the pillow company is real after posting a screenshot of an inquiry from a Daily Mail reporter who was asked to "specifically make sure this isn't trolling or a prank, and that you are actually creating a pillow company lol." LeGate tweeted, "It's real, and it's coming soon."
