‘Does she realize it’s the wrong country’: Lorde trolled for 'F**k Supreme Court' remark at UK event

A day after musicians like Olivia Rodrigo, Phoebe Bridgers, and Megan Thee Stallion expressed their anger against the US Supreme Court overturning the landmark Roe V Wade ruling, Lorde too echoed similar sentiments when she landed on the stage of Glastonbury Festival 2022 in England.
 
Lorde, who debuted a new look on day five of the coveted music festival, had a few harsh words for the US Supreme Court over their move to no longer protect abortion as a federal right for the first time since 1973. While delivering a powerful speech at her concert, the 25-year-old crooner said “F**k the Supreme Court” as the crowd cheered loudly.

Addressing the controversial issue, the ‘Royals’ hitmaker asserted, “Welcome to sadness. The temperature is unbearable until you face it.” She continued, “You wanna know a secret, girls? Your bodies were destined to be controlled and objectified since before you were born. That horror is your birthright.” The New Zealander added, “But here’s another secret. You possess ancient strength, ancient wisdom, wisdom that has propelled every woman that came before you.”
 
Lorde further said, “That wisdom is also your birth right. I ask you today, accessing that wisdom your life’s work. Because everything depends on it,” before concluding, “F**k the Supreme Court.”

Michelle Obama, Taylor Swift, Billie Eilish, and Pearl Jam were some of the other public figures who condemned the court’s decision. Olivia Rodrigo had sung Lily Allen's 'F**k You' during her performance to express her opinion on the situation.

A few social media users trolled Lorde for her comments as one of the users posted, “Does she realise it’s the wrong country.” Another chimed in, “Seems entirely reasonable to me. A talented, intelligent young woman. Why on earth would she or any other rational, moral human being think otherwise?” One user posted, “Pretty sure people went to just get pissed and listen to music. Not get involved in political debates.”

The next one added, “So, a New Zealander goes on stage at a concert in Britain to rant about a decision from an American court which determined that laws regarding abortion are not constitutional matters but within the remit of individual state legislatures. Or have I missed something?” And, one concluded, “Olivia Rodrigo, Lorde, Meghan Thee Stallion, and Phoebe Bridgers saying “f**k you” to the supreme court in front of a 200,000 people Glastonbury crowd has to be one of the best moments of this year.”
