Gerard Butler wants $5.25M in damages after 2017 motorcycle accident left him with 'catastrophic injuries'
MALIBU, CALIFORNIA: Gerard Butler recently made a $5.25 million settlement offer in a lawsuit he launched against the woman whom he claimed was at fault for the 2017 accident which left the 53-year-old action hero with severe injuries. Bulter alleged that he lost millions of dollars at "the busiest period" of his career and sustained "catastrophic injuries" as a result of being run off the road.
Butler's injuries were said to be not so serious at the time of the crash; nonetheless, he contends in the new case that he suffered significantly. The actor argues that the other driver "negligently pulled her vehicle off the curb" in October 2017 and that this caused him to be flung off his motorcycle.

The driver, who was driving a Mercedes Benz, allegedly "cut across lanes of traffic directly in front of him" at that point, according to him. Butler was thrown from his Triumph motorcycle after hitting the woman's driver's side as the maneuver reportedly gave him no time to apply the brakes.
On November 26, five years after the accident, Butler was spotted riding his high-end motorcycle in the beachside community of Malibu with a couple of his friends who were also on their motorcycles.
As reported by Daily Mail, back when the incident happened, an insider told TMZ, "Lucky for him no broken bones just cuts and bruises." They added, "Someone called 911, paramedics came and took Gerard to a nearby hospital where he was treated for his injuries."
"It made me really appreciate how precious life is," Butler told Entertainment Tonight after the accident, "because I could have landed any number of ways that would have taken me out." The star, who will soon be seen in his most recent action movie 'Plane', spoke about "flying through the air" before crashing to the ground. "I have five fractures in my right foot alone," Gerard told ET. "A bunch of stupid stuff, a torn meniscus, but I'll be fine."
Butler reportedly stated in the settlement offer, which was acquired by The Blast, that he would withdraw the lawsuit in exchange for $5.25 million. "I’m lucky to be here," the star said during an appearance on The Talk in 2017. "I went 33 feet through the air." According to reports, the defendant has a few weeks to decide whether or not to accept Butler's offer but if she rejects it, Butler will appear in court the following month to request a trial.
