There's trouble brewing in paradise for George and Amal Clooney as their marriage entered a rough patch which, if not resolved, could lead to divorce.

After the 'Ocean’s Eleven' actor and British-Lebanese barrister wife was not seen in public for a long time, Woman’s Day New Zealand reported in its March 30, 2020 issue that the couple had been living separately for months now. Having to maintain a long-distance relationship was taking a toll on their marriage and the two are on the brink of getting divorced, according to International Business Times

The outlet further reported that George was seen carrying some of his personal possessions in Los Angeles which sparked rumors that he might have moved out of the couple's mansion in Studio City. The actor has later seen dining with his business partner and close confidante, Rande Gerber, at Craig’s restaurant in West Hollywood, where he is believed to have been sharing details about his marital woes.

“Rande has provided a very attentive ear for decades during their guys’ nights at Craig’s, and on this evening, in particular, they were talking very seriously and intensely. George is a naturally friendly guy, but he was in no mood to chat with anyone else and seemed to be getting something off his chest,” the insider told the media outlet.

The source added: “George has kept Rande up to date on how things haven’t been good with Amal for a while now. He’s made it clear that if George needs somewhere to stay, even for a few days if discussions over their marriage become too intense, he is more than welcome to stay in Malibu with him and Cindy [Crawford, his wife], for as little or as long as he wants. I wouldn’t be surprised if that was where George was heading with his backpack."

Things seemed to have reportedly soured between the two after discovering their lifestyles were very different from each other. They also apparently have conflicting schedules that make it difficult for both to take out time for bonding together.

Another possible reason for the alleged breakdown of their marriage could be the fact that George is adamant about the fact that he does not want any more children—something that Amal has been insisting on having for months. Both of them share twins, Alexander and Ella Clooney.

However, it is important to remember that neither George nor Amal has shared any negative updates about their marriage and given the history of Woman’s Day printing unverified and often false news stories, the current report must be taken with a grain of salt.

Last month George sustained a serious motorcycle injury that happened while he was in Italy. The 57-year-old was driving a scooter, and a Mercedes collided with his vehicle while he was on his way to the sets of a film he's currently doing. It is believed that the driver of the car "suddenly turned" into Clooney's path, blindsiding him.

As we previously reported, the actor was later seen sporting a scraped elbow as he hobbled into his way to the private jet, being assisted by his wife who was carrying 2-year-old Ella.
