Matt McConaughey is now Flat McConaughey in a zany, new Super Bowl ad where the Oscar-winning actor plays a faxed-out version himself. ‘Flat Matthew’ really is all of us, simply longing for the lives we lived before a pandemic changed everything.

In the minute-long ad that aired on Sunday, the actor is hit beyond repair by a football, becomes invisible at a coffee shop, gets sucked into a floor vacuum, and flies away while walking his dog. Completing basic tasks feels harder than ever for poor old Flat Matthew.

“Life used to feel fuller,” he said in the Doritos ad, as he went flying while attempting to catch a not-so-mean football throw, before disappearing from view when turning to the side to a background track of Queen’s ‘I Want to Break Free’.

"Did you drive here or did you travel by fax?" 'Late Night's Jimmy Kimmel quips, sitting alongside Mindy Kaling as Flat Matt looks on. Thankfully, 3D Doritos has come to the rescue, but 3D McConaughey is now stuck in a vending machine, and it looks unlikely that the Doritos could do much about that unless they’ve got capes hiding somewhere within that crispy fullness.

The Internet had quite a laugh about it and Twitter came up with the most hilarious, priceless jokes, never failing to disappoint.

"DORITOS: #FlatMatthew McConaughey is a good Matthew McConaughey. Some funny bits (with bonus Mindy Kaling and Jimmy Kimmel). The part where he turns to get coffee is a little creepy, but it works," reviewed Adweek. "So, so far, commercial wise is it flat Matthew McConaughey for the win," noted a netizen. "Matthew McConaughey as a grown up Flat Stanley is all I needed to see. Goodnight" said another. "Can’t wait for the second 3D Doritos commercial where all the cardboard cutouts in the stands also turn into Matthew mcconaughey," said a netizen.

Some people were quite spooked and wondered how 2D Matthew would haunt them, while others compared him to a character from 'Space Jam 2' who went splat on a basketball field.

"Well, I'm going to have nightmares about 2D Matthew Mcconaughey," said one. "Matthew McConaughey coming for Wayne Knight's job in Space Jam 2," said another.

Someone made a point-blank observation, maintaining that "The Matthew McConaughey commercial was truth in advertising. 3D Doritos will make you fat."
