Matthew McConaughey shares soothing video encouraging people to unite during coronavirus

“We have an enemy in coronavirus that is faceless, that is raceless, sexless, non-denominational… it’s an enemy we all agree that we want to beat and we’re gonna beat," the ‘Interstellar’ star said

As the whole world struggles with the deadly coronavirus, Matthew McConaughey has decided to cheer up people across the globe instead of worrying about the uncertainty. The 50-year-old Academy award–winning actor has taken to Twitter to share hope during these dark times and has urged people to make lemonade when life gives them lemons.

McConaughey recently posted a video on Twitter, saying: “Just want to say in these crazy times that we’re in for coronavirus. Let’s take care of ourselves and each other.” The actor continued, “Let’s not go to the lowest common denominator and get paranoid, let’s do our due diligence and take the precautions. We need to take care of ourselves and those who are around us right now more than ever before. We’re more dependent on each other than we have ever been.”

Terming the COVID-19 a faceless enemy, the ‘Interstellar’ star said, “We have an enemy in coronavirus that is faceless, that is raceless, sexless, non-denominational… it’s an enemy we all agree that we want to beat and we’re gonna beat. In this time when people are going to move on and the economy is going to be in shambles for who knows how long there is a green light… that green light is going to be built on the values that we can enact right now."

“Values of fairness, kindness, accountability, resilience, respect, courage, we practice those things right now when we get out of this, the virus this time might be the one that brings us all together and unifies us like we have not been in a long time."

“Let’s see if we can make some lemonade out of this lemon that we’re in the middle of trying to red light to a green light… just keep living,” mentioned McConaughey while ending his video on a positive note. He also added fist bumps at the end.

McConaughey’s video message comes as many people around the world are practicing self-quarantine as a precautionary measure to prevent further spread of the virus, including several celebrities. Some entertainment world stars have tested positive also, which includes London-based 'James Bond’ actress, Olga Kurylenko. Tom Hanks and his wife Rita Wilson also earlier tested positive for the disease, making them the first celebrity couple to be infected by the COVID-19.
