'Fargo' Season 4 Episodes 1 and 2: Fans think Season 2's Mike Milligan is Loy Cannon’s son Satchel this season

Spoilers for ‘Fargo’ episodes 1 and 2, ‘Welcome to the Alternate Economy’ and ‘The Land of Taking and Killing’
‘Fargo’ season 4 started with a bang. Set in the 1950s in Kansas City, Missouri, the show follows two groups -- the Italians Americans and African Americans -- both hungry for power. Noah Hawley’s crime/dark comedy anthology series has always been a quirky watch.
The story begins with a tradition of gang ousters. How the Irish Milligan family dethroned the Russain Jewish gangsters, only to be stabbed in the back the same way by the Italian Fadda family. Then in 1949, the Faddas and Loy Cannon’s (Chris Rock) African American syndicate came to a volatile truce.
To ensure peace, Loy very reluctantly trades his son Satchel (Rodney Jones) for the Italian patriarch Donatello’s (Tommaso Ragno) youngest (Jameson Braccioforte) in an age-old tradition. The boy finds a protector in the Faddas' older ward, Patrick ‘The Rabbi’ Milligan (Ben Whishaw), who incidentally had double-crossed his own Irish family in an earlier transaction.
Peace may have been a possibility had Donatello not met an untimely death. His absence escalated his son Josto (Jason Schwartzman) to power. But his brother Gaetano (Salvatore Esposito) is not happy with the leadership. On the other side, the death of Donatello made an opportunity for Loy and his gang to try and take over some territories.
For many fans, this season’s writing was as good as any other. One fan wrote on Twitter, “Could you imagine being a writer for @FargoFX on the first day writing the new season. ‘Alright yall, how the f*** do we top that?’ Somehow they manage.” Another fan said, “It's been three years since a new season of @FargoFX and it's already off to a great start. Based on the tone, it reminds me very much of Season 2, which I greatly enjoyed. Yeah, safe to say that Noah Hawley's captivated me again. Here's to the rest of Season 4!”
But at the same time, fans couldn’t help but sigh at this season’s uncharacteristically huge cast. A fan asked, “Anybody have a spreadsheet to share so I can remember who all the characters are?”

As is the case with ‘Fargo’, all the seasons so far have had minute obscure connections to each other, seeing that they are part of the same universe. Fans, of course, were already on the lookout for that Easter Egg that would connect season 4 to any of the previous seasons. And it would seem that they had found one in Satchel, Loy’s son, and season 2's anti-hero -- the bane of the Gerhardt family -- Mike Milligan, played by Bokeem Woodbine.
One fan hoped, “Would love to see a Mike Milligan Kansas City connection in this season of #Fargo #FargoFX.” Another fan questioned, “Satchel becomes Mike Milligan. Obvious, no? #FargoFX.” Yet another fan questioned, “I wonder how Mike Milligan fits in with this season of #FargoFX could he be Loy Cannon's kid? Nahhhh.”

Aside from that, fans also could not help but fear and be in awe of Jessie Buckley’s Oraetta Mayflower, the malevolent but sweet-talking Minnesota nurse who killed an already-dying Donatello with a lethal injection. Oraetta, undoubtedly, can remind one of Billy Bob Thornton’s Lorne Malvo from season 1. But fans had other comparisons in mind as well.
One fan wrote, “So Nurse Mayflower is a #MinnesotaNice version of #NurseRatched #FargoFX.” Another fan said, “Nurse Mayflower is giving me Nurse Ratched vibes…” That, of course, did not stop fans from loving her. One fan wrote, “She’s insane and I love her #FargoFX.”
