Malia Obama's fans came to her defense after the eldest daughter of former Democrat President Barack Obama was mired in a controversy for ordering at a drive-through Chick-fil-A. The chicken restaurant was founded by S Truett Cathy, a conservative Christian and a member of the Southern Baptist Church, who used many of his religious views to structure the company. The food outlet is now run by his son Dan T Cathy.

Malia hit up the restaurant before dropping off younger sister Sasha’s boyfriend, Clifton Powell Jr, at the airport. She was spotted placing her order from the car, while Sasha’s boyfriend sat next to her in the passenger seat, as reported by The DailyMail. The controversy was triggered by the fact that Dan Cathy has made many negative comments about same-sex marriage; it has also come to light that the restaurant chain had donated more than $5 million to various anti-LQTBQ+ groups.

"I think we are inviting God’s judgment when we say, 'We know better than you as to what constitutes a marriage.' I pray God’s mercy on our generation that has such a prideful, arrogant attitude," he once said.

Whereas, on the other hand, the Obama family has helped bring LGTBQ+ rights to the forefront. Many reports highlighted the fact that Malia didn't seem to mind eating from an establishment that has been on the other side of the debate on LGTBQ+ issue. Daily Mail tweeted its picture exclusive with the caption, "Malia Obama risks the of the woke mob by paying visit to famously Christian Chik-fil-A."

However, Twitter users defended Malia amidst the controversy as they believed the attention given to the issue was unnecessary and pointless.

Journalist Yashar Ali replied to DailyMail's tweet, "🙄 No she won’t. She’s fine. I hope she enjoyed her meal." A user wrote, "No one is outraged about this, delete," referring to DailyMail's article. Another user wrote, "Black woman eats sandwich, white people not sure what to think." "Really, who gives a ****," one user wrote. "Girl just hungry so what? What would Barack say? Malia Obama risks the ire of the woke mob by paying a visit to famously Christian fast food eatery Chick-fil-A - before burning off her sins at a SoulCycle class," another wrote. "Nobody but you and Fox News actually uses the term "woke". And nobody actually cares if Malia Obama goes to a fast food restaurant," another user wrote.
